Obama and Afghanistan

Salon: Reports on the situation on the ground in Afghanistan. It can be argued that Obama was right that Bush Administration took its eye off the ball in Afghanistan, but the plan for a Obama surge next year can also come under critical review, Afghanistan is not Iraq, Iraq was tired of the violence of the terrorists, thus the move by the people to support the government and the US Forces. In Afghanistan the the Taliban and the Terrorists have come back from their defeat in 2001, the Government of Afghanistan is in the toilet, it is not trusted by the people thus the present problems, Obama's statement that he would place troops in Pakistan has tipped his hand to the terrorists. Thus it can be expected that after his Inauguration he will be tested by the terrorists in Afghanistan, will the USA go after them, to their safe havens in Pakistan. The outcome of the War in Afghanistan will define the Obama Presidency.
