Reagan did something that neither Eisenhower or Clinton managed, his Vice - President won, Nixon went down to defeat to Kennedy and of course Gore was defeated by Bush. Reagan is seen as transformational President by Obama, while Clinton is not, in many respects the Campaign of 08 is more about Bill Clinton seeking a legacy after the failure of 2000.
