No Going Back - General McChrystal on US Policy in Afghanistan

The New York Times: Reports on a speech by the US Commander in Afghanistan, General McChrystal, the General has rejected the opinion of VP Biden that the US should scale back US ground presence in Afghanistan and go for drone attacks on Al Qaeda bases in Pakistan. The NYT writes the following on the McChrystal speech, " rejected calls for scaling down military objectives......said Washington did not have unlimited time to settle on a new strategy to pursue the....war. " This can be seen as a rebuke to VP Biden but also to President Obama for being slow to make a decision. When it comes to Afghanistan President Obama should take him time, but should also come to the right decision, if he is going wobble and allow the left wing of the Democratic Party to decide US Foreign Policy then the UK should get out of Afghanistan. If Obama does not support the US military plan for Afghanistan then Israel will see that Obama can not be counted on in a tight spot and will hit Iran. President Obama it seems shares the same flaw as LBJ, he wants to be loved, well he has soldiers in fox holes in Afghanistan waiting for him to make his mind up to support them, if Obama wants affection he should get a dog. The decision on Afghanistan will define his Presidency, if Obama pushes back against his left then he will be seen as strong but if sells out Afghanistan, this will follow a trend, Poland, Czech Republic at the start of the process. Israel will not allow herself to be sold out because Obama does not have a backbone. Lets hope Obama is not another Jimmy Carter!
