The one major difference between 1972 and 2022, is the fact that Liz Truss is from the Thatcher school for tough leadership, also the Barber boom lasted eighteen months, enough time for a General Election and Unions are not as powerful as they were once, Heath took on the miners, there are no more mines for miners, only those in private hands, also since everyone is going green, there are other areas to get power to the grid, no more 3 day week as there was in the 1970s.  The Conservative Governments have made it harder to go on strike, and the new mini budget has reforms in this area, strikes will only be allowed if any deal offered has been placed before the members of Unions, before a strike is legal.  This mini budget will make it harder for the Labour Party, the Party can hardly go in to an election with tax hikes, as everyone knows that after the rich get clobbered is the middle class that has to pay the debts of the Labour Party.  Thus this was a good mini Budget, the Conservatives are back!

The Russians think they have the upper hand when it comes to energy for the West, they see the Winter coming and must be hoping for a tough winter as to force people to put the gas on, what happens if it not that cold, Russia loses its major card, the UK by the statement by the PM above shows that the UK will not give up on the Ukraine, the battle for Ukraine will go on, the freeze will come when winter comes to the Ukraine, far to cold for actual combat in that period for either side.  The PM will have a Fiscal Event on Friday, in other words another Budget, one can expect the revoking of the new National Insurance hike, keeping business rates as they are , and even TAX CUTS when it comes to Income Tax.  This is the time for PM Truss to go ALL THATCHER, cut the State and get the economy booming, that will get the UK out of the cost of living crisis, we have to return to a small State Government with low taxes, Lady Thatcher would have approved.  Also keeping supporting the Ukraine, in till Russia gets the hell out of the Ukraine.

Lets Get Real:

The margins are good for the Conservatives, but the Party has to be careful, there are still a few weeks to go, so the Party has to ACT as if its 10% behind, take nothing for granted.  On the whole for Labour if the polls are right, they have to get their core vote out, also they have to get what Ed Miliband got in 2015, either in percent or seats number.   It will be interesting to see if the NHS hack had any effect on the polls.  That will have to wait for next week.  The Liberal Democrats seem seem to have sunk, the same can be said for UKIP.   The official manifestos are out next week, lets see if that affects the polls.

As stated the UK General Election of 2017 could be a WALKOVER, of as stated the unexpected happens, the Conservative Party has to get its vote out, it has to place the fear of God in to the Voters, do they want a PM Corbyn, NOT REALLY.   Thus expect business leaders to come out in support of the Conservative Government.   The Conservatives should stress security of the UK, and what would happen if Corbyn should win, that will have a few people out on the weekend needing a drink.  The Conservatives need to offer stability and that the UK is leaving the EU, and that old phrase means what it says, Brexit means Brexit.   The Labour Party will play the NHS card, they always do, it wont work but then they have no message that sells beyond a few London Elites.   Thus voter we have 7 weeks of this, this blogger will need a drink, and its only Tuesday.

It has been an extraordinary month, there have been executive orders that have removed regulations in the area of climate change, such as Obama's regulations on coal, that was killing the industry.   The President has frozen federal employment levels, the aim of the new Administration is to get Government to do more with less.  The immigration service has been given more freedom to deport people, while protecting those that were bought to the US at a young age.    The US military will have increase spending, the Obama years saw a decline in US defence spending, the US has been tougher on Iran, in Congress the Administration is developing a policy to replace ObamaCare and make the tax system more fairer for the US voter.  Also the Oval Office is developing a new travel ban that will pass the Courts reviews. Also lets not forget that the Trump Administration has placed on a ban on the US supporting abortion abroad or helping with service.  That is not a bad record for a Month in Office.

This is the problem now faced by left wing Parties in the UK, when Labour was New Labour these Parties could promise left wing polices that did not get challenge from Labour, now that Labour has gone back to being old Labour, these left wing Parties such as the Greens and the SNP, want to form an alliance, the problem is that the majority of the PLP is on the right even moderate, whille " Red " Jeremy is on the extrme left wing, so his Chancellor.   Thus while Labour makes itself happy; it would be cheaper and more logical to hire a high class escort for the same effect; the real politics of the centre ground is being run by the Conservative Party.   One wonders how long the Labour Party will be asleep at the wheel, when it will go grow up, when it losses the 2025 Election?

I GOT IT WRONG ( KIND OF ), this blog predicted a Labour victory supported by the SNP. The actual result was a Conservative victory of 331 with a majority of 12, while Labour lost seats and came in with 232 Seats, the LibDems went down to 8, while the SNP went up to 56 Seats in the House of Commons..   This blog did not trust its own political gut, on election day this blog went in to a bookies and put a bet of £1 on the Conservative Party getting between 301 - 325, in fact they gained six more, while this blog thought Labour would get around the 250 range, the actual number was down by 24.  SORRY, I  HATE to be wrong, I did not trust my political gut and trusted the polls, others did also, see above, but BECAUSE others failed is no justification,  this blog says  again SORRY.
