The New York Times: Reports the following, " The militants overran the city of Tikrit, seized facilities in the strategic oil refining town of Baiji, and threatened an important Shiite shrine in Samarra as they moved south toward Baghdad. "
Lets Get Real:
The question that has to be asked by the Oval can it afford to see Al Qaeda in total control of Iraq and a leading force in Syria, this would be a disaster for the Obama Administration and its legacy. Thus WHAT real options does the Oval have, no ground troops, the US public would not support going back to Iraq, a return by Obama would destroy the Democratic Party, the left would go bonkers and the Republicans would rub their hands with delight. Thus what can the Oval do, that has a real results, it could use drones, a massive operation to set back the Al Qaeda franchise in Iraq and allow the Iraqi forces to fight back, the question is will the Hamlet of the Oval act, does he have the time, does he have the courage to make that kind of decision.
