Limited Sucess for Obama at NATO
The New York Times: Reports that President Obama has had limited success at the NATO meeting, NATO has agreed to a limited and short surge for the Presidential Election in Afghanistan, the Liberal NYT writes the following, " ....European leaders offered few extra troops.... with most of the soldiers only on temporary security assignment, underlining deep divisions within the alliance over the war. " Thus it has been reported by Fox News and NYT that President Obama failed to meet his agenda. The President is good at spinning, that why he won the election, but lets see if the short and limited deployment actual happens, what these new soldiers will do, will they fight or with they be in the North, will they act like policemen not soldiers. The UK forces will fight, they are need in the South, it is expected that the Taliban/Terrorists will try to disturb the election in August. As stated before, the War in Afghanistan is Obama's War, he doubling the troops, he is nation building. Afghanistan is the last place for this kind of woolly liberalism. Its going to cost the USA and the UK, lets hope at the end of the day we kind find a honourable exit, don't fancy a repeat of the 19th Century result of the first British - Afghanistan War.
Fox - No New Combat Troops
Fox News: Reports that NATO has refused to send new combat troops to Afghanistan, and those that they will send will be military trainers and only for Presidential Election in August. As stated its down to the details of this NATO surge, lets see what the conditions are for these new troops to fight and in what part of Afghanistan they will be stationed. It could be all spin at the end of the day, lets see the details.
NATO Surge for Afghanistan - UK 900 Soldiers
BBC News: Reports that NATO will send another five thousand soldiers and trainers to Afghanistan. The BBC reports that the UK will send nine hundred of that surge. My question is how many of these soldiers from other NATO countries will be combat troops, not troops that cant fight, cant go out after dark, have to act like policemen not soldiers. Lets see the details, one can postulate that UK forces will be sent to the South to fight. Lets see if Germany and Spain allow their forces to fight, or is all this just spin. Its great to have trainers but if the West was to lose the country to the Taliban/Terrorists its not much use.
Launch Ready - North Korea
BBC News: Reports that North Korea has announced that it is ready to launch its missile. At least all the NATO members are in place, they can discuss a reaction. Lets see if it works first, then if it does the Obama Administration has a problem, keep an eye on this story folks.
