Guardian: Reports " By averting the rebellion rather than outvoting the Tory rebels, their support on major issues such as membership of a customs union or the single market remains untested. "
Lets Get Real:
Thus the next fight over Brexit will come when the trade bill comes back to the House of Commons. In that the rebels want to stay in the Customs Union and the Single Market. The Government whips will have a tough time in keeping the rebels in their place, as stated the process for Brexit is complex, more intense battles on the way. The one saving grace for the Chief Whips is the fact that the he can count on some Labour rebels and the fact that Jeremy Corbyn does not want to be in the Single Market, that very fact could make Brexit a success.
