NYT on Thatcher - Thatcher Era 8

Lets Get Real:

Lets be honest here folks, the above from the NYT must have made them cry, they hated the Reagan and Thatcher Era, lets be brutal, if the NYT had run US and UK Foreign Policy the USSR would still be around, East Germany would still control Berlin, and the Warsaw Pact would still be a threat to NATO.  On the domestic front, the NYT always wants TAX HIKES, and a bigger WELFARE STATE.   The one problem that the uber liberal NYT had is that Reagan and Thatcher were Right and and Right on the issues.   The left will never forgive, if they were that wrong on the big issues, why trust them NOW.

Bush 41 on Thatcher - Thatcher Era 7

Telegraph: Has an article written by Bush 41, the former President states the following on Lady Thatcher, " ..was a fearless, unrelenting advocate for democracy, free markets and human rights... ".

Lets Get Real:

It is nice article but also truthful, the President is honest is that he was not as close to Lady Thatcher as President Reagan and they had more policy disagreements, there is that famous case in the lead up to the first Gulf War when Lady Thatcher told Bush 41 not to wobble, one has to wonder how that went  down with a US President.   Also Lady Thatcher stated in an interview that she though that the US and the UK ended the first Gulf War to soon, but she had gone by then.    By the time of the Bush 41 Presidency the Cold War was over, Germany within a few months of Reagan leaving office was on the way to unification, the USSR was in its death throes but no one knew, the relationship between the US and the USSR that lead to the end of the Cold War and the end of USSR had its foundations in the Reagan - Bush Era, helped along by Lady Thatcher who was firm ally of Reagan and Bush 41. By the time Lady Thatcher left office in 1990 the World and Europe was heading in to the Post Cold War Era, full of smaller crisis points, starting with the Gulf War, then Bosnia, by that time Reagan, Thatcher and Gorbachev has either gone or were on the way out.  Great leaders for a great time folks.

PM Cameron on the Death of Lady Thatcher - Thatcher Era 6

10 Downing Street: Reports on the remarks of UK PM David Cameron the death of Lady Thatcher, the PM stated the following, " We've lost a great leader, a great Prime Minister and a great Briton...... She was the patriot Prime Minister  ".

Lets Get Real:

In many respects PM Cameron is being even bolder than Lady Thatcher when it comes to welfare, the recent reforms in welfare and the attack on the welfare culture, has echoes of the Thatcher fight with the trade unions, conservative resistance to chance, the present Coalition Government has to deal with the mess that was left by Tony Blair and Gordon Brown in the economic filed.   Thus the Government wants people to be better off working than on the dole, the left wing media has gone bonkers, as they did in the Thatcher Era.   The Government, well the Conservative side has cut taxes, Gordon Brown has put it up after the near banking collapse, as with Thatcher being firm on the Falklands, the new Coalition Government was firm in getting rid of Gaddafi of Libya, while the Conservative Party is still fighting over the EU.  The more things change the more they stay the same, can Cameron be another Thatcher? Lets hope for the UK he is the new Iron Man of UK politics, we shall see folks!.

Lady Thatcher and the Newspapers - Thatcher Era 5

Guardian Live - Thatcher Coverage: Reports on how the death of Lady Thatcher is being covered by the UK Newspapers:

Lets Get Real:

The papers feed their readers, thus the right wing press is sad, while the left will never forgive Lady Thatcher for routing them on the domestic and international front, one has to wonder how Lady Thatcher would cope with the 24/7 news cycle of today, it seems post Thatcher PM's are 100% concerned about their media coverage, that is the mistake of New Labour, they connected the success of Lady Thatcher with the press, they missed the point, her policies won her three election, not how the Editorial of the Sun, Mirror, Times, Telegraph viewed an issue.   Great Leaders last, editorial viewpoints with due respect, are neither here or there! There will never another Lady Thatcher.

The Death of Lady Thatcher and the News - Thatcher Era 4

BBC News - Live Coverage: Read the different reactions to the news of the death of Lady Thatcher during the day, on this BBC Live feed.

Lets Get Real:

It was interesting watching the coverage on the BBC and Sky, on the whole they followed the same pattern, a PM that changed the UK from the 1970s, from curbing the Unions, her tough economic medicine, the War in the Falklands, her three election wins, then the start of the decline, the Poll tax and unrest with the Conservative Party.  On the whole fair, then we come to the BAD POINTS, both BBC and Sky showed ex miners that were happy that Lady Thatcher had died, it was shocking to this blogger of the reports he saw the Reporters did not come back on on these VILE people, no mention that their President had not called the vote, the fact that miners used violence against the Police and tried to prevent fellow miners going back to work.   This blogger would have taken them on, how such rubbish was allowed on air with no counter probing was shocking,  the miners thought they were dealing with Ted Heath, they had not learned from the Falklands, that was their error, they deserved their defeat, no pity at all from this blogger!  Lady Thatcher will be seen as a great historical figure, those small minded miners will be forgotten, yesterday men and women who could or would not change, economics is never fair, they tried it USSR and it failed.  Lady Thatcher crushed the left wing elite opposition, it had to be destroyed, once and for all, we are Great Britain not France.
