Washington Post: Reports that Liberal Leaders of the House of Representatives could have a problem getting their health care reform bill through if they don't prevent the government paying for abortions, this issue is a major problem for Blue Dog Democrats, they come from more Conservative States. On this issue this blog is very liberal, if the Health Care Reform Bill does not pay for abortions then it should be opposed, women are a major base for the Democratic Party, thus their needs should be meet by the government. If a woman needs an abortion and cant afford the medical procedure then the government should pick up the cost, if the US Government can save the banks it can help women, its only fair.

Not so Fast Harry - Lieberman to Senator Reid on Health Reform
Fox News: Reports that the Independent Democrat, Senator Joe Lieberman has stated that he will support the Republican filibuster of the Obama Health Care Bill, that there is no secret deal between himself and the Liberal Democrats in the Senate. One thing about Senator Lieberman he is an honourable man, in a town full of scoundrels, that includes Democrats and Republicans. If the Democrats want the vote of Senator Lieberman they will have to take out the public option, also if they could manage to cut the cost of the Bill from around a trillion dollars they could also attract some Republicans.
Hypocrisy on the Part of President Obama - Afghanistan
It was interesting to see the spin of the Obama White House when it came to the Afghan Election, this was Obama yesterday, " I should use this moment to say that about an hour ago I spoke with President Karzai and I congratulated him on his election for a second term as President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Although the process was messy ( is that the Chicago term for corrupt ), I'm pleased to say that the final outcome was determined in accordance with Afghan law (there was only one candidate), which I think is very important, not only for the international community that has so much invested in Afghan success, but most importantly, is important for the Afghan people that the results were in accordance with and followed the rules laid down by the Afghan constitution. ( President Karzai was the winner before the first round ) I did emphasize to President Karzai that the American people and the international community as a whole want to continue to partner with him and his government in achieving prosperity and security in Afghanistan. But I emphasized that this has to be a point in time in which we begin to write a new chapter based on improved governance, a much more serious effort to eradicate corruption, joint efforts to accelerate the training of Afghan security forces so that the Afghan people can provide for their own security. ( This is Afghanistan not Washington D.C Mr President, different rules, they play by Chicago rules ) That kind of coordination and a sense on the part of President Karzai that after some difficult years in which there has been some drift, that in fact he's going to move boldly and forcefully forward and take advantage of the international community's interest in his country to initiate reforms internally, that has to be one of our highest priorities. ( Karzai is the only game in town Mr President, if you lose Afghanistan you lose Pakistan ) He assured me that he understood the importance of this moment, but as I indicated to him, the proof is not going to be in words, it's going to be in deeds. And we are looking forward to consulting closely with his government in the weeks and months to come to assure that the Afghan people are actually seeing progress on the ground. " If the President wants the above he will have to place troops in to Afghanistan, the US Commander on the ground General McChrystal has requested between forty and eight thousand more troops, does Obama have the political will to follow up this request, the noise out of the White House has been dithering, it has been reported that Obama will send around twenty thousand extra troops to deal with the cities but leave the countryside to the Taliban, in other words Obama does not have the guts to win this War if that is the result, the Taliban will just wait Obama out, anything less that the troops requested by McChrystal will show that Bush 43 was a better President, he won Iraq with a troops surge, Obama could lose Afghanistan and Pakistan, and set in motion a regional war between Pakistan and India.
