Peter Falk Dead = Goodbye Columbo

The New York Times: Reports on the death of the actor Peter Falk. Mr Falk was a fine actor, and he was Columbo, what made Columbo different was that you saw the crime and how it was done at the start and then you saw Lt. Columbo solve the case, how he was looked down on by the weekly murder. But no matter how powerful or intelligent the murder he or she was always caught. What made Columbo was the weekly guest starts, great Hollywood Stars, it was fun seeing the try to outwit Columbo when the faced with Mr Falk and never winning, the star was Peter Falk. Also the guest stars came back, thus you had Captain Kirk, the Prisoner etc coming back to try to foil Columbo and never winning, that was the fun. There was and shall always be only one Columbo, TV detection has lost a great Cop, and the arts have lost a fine actor in Peter Falk.

Obama Rebuked over Libya = Guardian

Guardian: Reports the following on the rejection by the Republican House of a Resolution that would give the green light for the War in Libya, “ It is an embarrassment for the president to have a vote go against him in time of conflict…”. Thus on one level the House has rebuked the Oval, but it’s a mild rebuke, the House did not cut off funding, the War in Libya is in No Mans Land of War, as NATO is using air power there is a limited threat for the Allies to suffer casualties, one of the good things about not having troops on the ground. But sooner or later something will go wrong, either in the air or at sea something will get hit, it’s the law of averages of folks, then it gets serious for the White House, 10 Downing Street and Paris, but so far they have been lucky, the Libya story is mentioned on the news but only if something has gone wrong with the bombing or other event. The world press just cant wait for Gaddafi to fall, thus different reporters pop up ever few days. The Coalition Government has stated that the War in Libya has cost the UK 260 million and counting, the Armed Forces are making noises that the Navy and Air Force can only do a few months before it reaches it limit. Thus the US, UK and France have to win and soon folks.

What is a Rebuke ?, Obama and Libya

The US House of Representatives has rejected a resolution that would give President Obama Congressional Approval for the War in Libya, the vote tally was 295 against approval while 123 supported the Libyan operation. It should be noted that 70 Democratic House members voted against their President. But on the other hand the House would not cut off funding for the War, the tally in this vote was 238 against cutting funding, while 180 wanted to cut funding. In this resolution 89 House Republicans voted against cutting funding. Thus a mixed message folks, it can be argued that President Obama has a few months to win this War, if Gaddafi is still in power in the New Year the House just might cut off funding, as the Democratic House cut funding for the Vietnam War in the early 1970s. Thus NATO has to win in Libya, it does not have all the time in the world folks, both the US and the UK are basically broke, even might powers when they are broke have to cut bait, after World War Two the UK gave up India, it was the right thing to do, democracy and all that, but also there was the fact that the Great Britain was broke, from Rome to the Soviet Union to the US, when the money runs out, the Armies have to come home.
