German Politics and the Euro

BBC News: Reports that Chancellor Merkel of Germany has suffered election losses in her home state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the main issues for the German voter was the Euro and the Greek bailouts. The problem with European leaders is once they become part of the European Elite they forget one small thing, its called Democracy, why should the German voter bailout PIIGS, Greece has had its hand out twice, who is to say the rest wont have their begging bowl out, also Italy and Spain could be the next to fall, the European Central Bank cant bailout these two countries forever, even the President of the ECB has stated that heavy spending countries have to reform, the ECB cant be there all the time. There is a chance that the German Parliament could reject the bailouts, this would be good news for Germany and the EU, this would really force the Euro to change and for European Countries to cut their welfare spending.

Chamberlain’s PR Work for Hitler

Mail on Sunday: Reports on secret talks between Chamberlain’s Press Secretary George Steward and the German Embassy in 1938, the talks were about making Nazi Germany look better to the British. This blog is not normally shocked folks, but this story has even thrown this blog, making Nazi Germany look better to us Brits, what was Chamberlain thinking, and I used that word with caution. But its not new folks, during World Wart Two the Soviet Union was given good press, yes even Stalin. Lets recall the liberal New York Times covered up for Stalin. In the present context the visit by former Labour PM Tony Blair when PM to Libya has echoes of Chamberlain’s PR work for Hitler. But folks it was a lousy idea in 1938 and when Blair went to Libya. One does wish politicians would learn some history, at least Blair never appeased Iraq, he just invaded.

Bani Waldi - Libyan Front Line

Guardian Live: Reports that the new Libyan Government is trying to gain peaceful entry in to the Gaddafi strong hold of Bani Waldi, if the talks fail then the rebels will use force. The new Government cant wait forever, the more time Gaddafi has, the more trouble he can cause for the new Libya, both Bani Waldi and Sirte have to be taken, through talks would be great, but if not then by heavy force, Gaddafi can not be given the time to regroup.

Night Terrors - Doctor Who

The Doctor Who News Page: Reports that the good Doctor had 5.5 million viewers against tough competition from ITV. These are the overnight ratings, the total should be higher with those that recorded for later viewing. As to the episode, it was fun, but also a good healthy terror, seeing Amy and Rory in that lift, well this viewer will check the next lift he goes in, don’t want to end up in that House. The Doctor, Amy and Rory are rocking, keep up the good work.

Darling vs. Brown = CUTS

Telegraph: Reports that the former Labour Chancellor Alistair Darling has stated that Labour and Gordon Brown would have benefited in the 2010 election if PM Brown had been honest about the need for cuts. On this the former Chancellor is right, present polls show voters trust the Conservatives when it comes to the economy even with the cuts. Ed Miliband, the Labour leader and Ed Balls the Shadow Chancellor are following the Brown line of no cuts and more borrowing, no wonder the Conservative Party is even with Labour in the Polls, the voter is not a fool, there have to be cuts, and they will hurt, the Labour Party broke the bank and sent the UK to the poor house.

Darling vs. Brown, The New FEUD

BBC News: Reports on Alistair Darling memoirs, Mr Darling writes that the then Prime Minister Gordon Brown thought that the banking crisis would only last six months and didn’t see the need for Government cuts. These revelations will hurt Brown, lets be honest since Labour lost the 2010 election the books that have come out from Labour leading lights have been scathing about Brown, he had no plan for Government after plotting for ten years, he lack leadership ability, No 10 was a mess under his leadership, his cronies knifed the Cabinet if seen as a threat to Brown. Its fair to say Brown makes Eden look good, even after Suez. Also the Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls always look bad in these books, he comes across as a hatched man for Brown.
