Reporters and the Rixos Hotel

BBC News: Reports that the thirty five reporters and VIPs have been allowed to leave the Rixos Hotel in Tripoli. This is good news folks, the worse case outcomes didn’t happen, thus far the Western rebels control a majority of Tripoli, but there are pockets of resistance, and then there is Colonel Gaddafi and his sons, thus far they have not been arrested or killed, thus this is not over folks.

Battle for Tripoli - Libyan Front Line

Guardian: Reports that the majority of Tripoli is under the control of the rebels but that there are still loyal Gaddafi Security Forces in small pockets around Tripoli, not all the Gaddafi compound is in the hands of the rebels, also the Rixos Hotel and surrounding area is under Gaddafi control. The Rebels and NATO need finish this job, there cant be any embers of Gaddafi left, or NATO will face the same problem that it has in Afghanistan and the US and its Allies had in Iraq, insurgents that can cause havoc, one can ask does new Libyan regime have the manpower and fire power to deal with Gaddafi forces that go down the insurgent track. Will the UN need to send in a peace keeping force, will the UK and France have to be the backbone of such a force. It could take years and could cost in human and money terms folks.

Reports as Hostages = Libyan Front Line

Telegraph: Reports on how conditions are getting worse for the reporters being held as human shields at the Rixos Hotel, food and water is running out. This could be a massive PR problem for NATO, never mind the rebels, the one thing other reporters will unite around is when their colleagues are under threat, as it could be them next, thus the SAS should be on standby to get the hostages out, quite frankly this blog does not trust US Special Forces, they are good but not that good, we need to get the UK citizens and other citizens out alive. The UK Government should already have a plan to go if the reporters send the green light that they fear being killed. This could get very nasty folks.

Rixos Hotel = Libyan Front Line

BBC News: Has a radio interview with the BBC’s Matthew Price inside the Rixos Hotel. The situation in the hotel is described as desperate. As stated in last post the new Libyan Government or NATO special forces have to get the reporters out. They are in effect being used as human shields. Thus the importance of either arresting or killing Colonel Gaddafi, is Gaddafi in the basement of the hotel, its a possibility, it would explain why the Gaddafi security forces are holding the reporters, as a last card to get the Colonel out of the Country, lets recall what the hostage crisis did to Jimmy Carter between 1979/80. What if NATO has to make a deal with the Gaddafi forces to get the reporters back, Gaddafi being given secured passage to a country of his choice, it could be that bad folks.
