The Polls for the General Election - USA
MAIN NEWS RASMUSSEN POLL, Obama 48% - McCain 40%.
Lets take a breath, a long road has just started in the 08 race.
Lets have a look at the general election polls, its early and they will go up and down over the months, this is a bit fun not something to bet on, well not yet!! Well we have the first African - American Nominee for President. This is historic, thus with the press in the tank for Obama, Obama is of course miles ahead, well no that's the point, in fact if one take in to account that people lie to pollsters when it comes to Obama, the race is even. The RCP average of Polls has Obama ahead by 2.5%, thus if you discount those that lie, its an even race. Lets have a look at some individual polls, CNN has Obama leading McCain by 3%, another poll shows a wider margin for Obama, the respected pollster Rasmussen shows a eight point lead by Obama over McCain, Obama 48% - McCain 40%. It should be noted that Hillary Clinton's support might have helped, he might need her on the ticket to win.
Lets take a breath, a long road has just started in the 08 race.
Clintons and the Presidential Chapter ?
Politico: Is this the Last Political Chapter for the Clintons?
Update: Folks this is my last post on the Clintons, unless Obama puts her on the ticket she is old news, this is time for the General Election, thus henceforth the posts will be about the General Election and the Obama and McCain contest.
Dick Morris on Hillary Clinton
Fox News: Mr Morris looks at what Hillary Clinton is up to, none of it good for Obama. Read of the Day.
Mark Penn on 08
New York Times: Her Top Aide writes his side of the argument as to why Hillary Clinton lost. Have read it twice and her Top Aide does not get it, it was a bad Campaign, let hit the top areas of problems, Iowa she came third, she was the front runner, Reagan also lost but it was close to Bush 41. In New Hampshire Clinton did win but only by few points, Reagan had a massive win and he had the nomination. The role of Bill Clinton was a disaster, the first " Black " President played the race card to help his wife and tried to make Obama look like any other black candidate. The Campaign did not seem to understand that the election process also included the caucuses, the Clinton machine thought it could win early and finish the race, it did not happen. Obama as Reagan did bought in new voters, in 1976 the Ford Campaign was surprised that voters that had not voted before turned out for Reagan, the Clinton Camp also missed this development for Obama. In 1976 President Ford had the White House and Air Force One to get in those days what we would call Super Delegates. Also it is has to be asked if the Clintons knew about Pastor Wright why they didn't use this information, in the Liberal Democratic Party it might not have worked, but when the information came out it hurt Obama in the later states. ONE SIMPLE LESSON, THE CLINTON CAMPAIGN WAS FIGHTING 1992 AGAIN WHEN IT WAS 2008.
Hillary Clinton and Women
New York Times: Ms Dowd has another scathing article on the Clintons. Ms Dowd writes the following, " She didn’t lose because she was a woman. She didn’t lose because America isn’t ready for a woman as president. She lost because of her own ........fatal missteps. " In till the Convention Hillary Clinton has to play the best political game she has ever played, she has to be out there in the swing states, she has to make her voters believe that they have to vote for Senator Obama, she has to keep Bill in the house, bake some bread!! If Hillary Cllinton wants to be VP she has to prove she is a team player and not with Bill Clinton but with Mr and Mrs Obama. This is in some respects the toughest fight she will have, the Obama's don't trust her with good reason and the Party is suspect that is aiming for the VP spot. This is the real fight for Hillary Clinton.
Bill Clinton TODAY
CNN News: Looks how the mighty have fallen, Bill Clinton the master politician, who in some respects helped make Hillary Clinton a loser.
Not My Planned Party ?
If hadn't seen the Hillary Clinton speech you would think from the reaction of the elite media that Clinton was really there for Obama. That is rubbish, if you get a chance watch the speech or read the transcript, the speech was about Hillary Clinton and the Clintons. Obama only got a mention because the Clintons wants Hillary as VP. If Obama would play this out, keep the VP spot open till the convention and then pick someone in the Clinton Camp but not Clinton. The Elite Media has to get its head out of its backside, this is not the 1960s, this is not about Civil Rights, this is about two good candidates, McCain and Obama, who have two different views for the USA and the West. Obama has moved to the centre with his remarks about Israel and Iran. McCain has moved to gain the support of those that voted for Hillary Clinton. The Battle of 08 will be in the centre.
