Campbell YES to AV

Alastair Campbell Blog: The Chief Spinner of New Labour Mr Campbell is voting YES on AV, the spin master states the following, “ …No rather than Yes...was indeed my own instinct early on….I have come round to Yes. ”. Simple folks do you trust AC after Iraq, if you really want to show your disapproval of his judgement then vote NO in the AV referendum on Thursday. A YES vote would mean that the Liberal Democrats would be in power all the time, there would never again be a majority Labour Government or Conservative Government, the Lib Dems would be the King Makers, the Labour and Conservative Leaders would have to pander to the Lib Dems. VOTE NO TO AV, vote for your freedom to have the Government of your CHOICE. Also in way send a message of disapproval to the Chief New Labour Spin Doctor!

Bin Laden Unarmed when KILLED

Guardian: Reports from the White House that Osama Bin Laden was not armed when killed. Thus expect some of the extreme left to argue that OBL should have been captured and tried, not killed. The extreme American left always sees the US as the enemy, but these are on the fridges of US politics. The mainstream liberal left, and they pretty left are never going to attack Obama, but its interesting folks would the reaction from the mainstream left have been the same in the same context if Bush 43 had been in the Oval, have my doubts.

UK Coalition Government Split ?

Telegraph: Reports on comments by the DPM Nick Clegg that the Coalition Parties will become more distinct after the AV referendum . In other words the Deputy Prime Minister feels under threat from those within his party who never in their hearts really wanted a Coalition Government. At the end of the day your either in Government our out, DPM Nick Clegg should have the guts to face down his opposition, you cant have Liberal Democrats Cabinet Ministers after the AV vote deciding which policy they like, the point of Collective responsibility within Cabinet is that on the whole you have once voice, yes there was the feud between Blair/Brown and that was one party, on the whole the system only works if you have one voice. If the Liberal Democrats want to leave the Government they should go, if they lose AV and take away their ball they will be seen as a one issue self interested Party, that helps the Tories. The Conservatives should look to form a minority Government or a lesser deal with the Liberal Democrats or some Northern Ireland MPs.

A Problem like Pakistan - The Death of OBL

BBC News: Reports that present CIA Director and future US Secretary of Defence Leon Panetta has stated that Pakistan was not informed of US plans to capture/kill OBL due to the fear that the Pakistan Government would leak this important information. The major problem faced by the Obama Administration is the simple fact that Pakistan is a nuclear armed power and is under threat from the Taliban of Pakistan. In many respects Afghanistan is not the PRIZE for the US, its keeping Pakistan stable and out of the hands of the Taliban. The suppose Allies, the US and Pakistan have different aims in Afghanistan, the US wants a stable Afghanistan that prevents itself becoming a terrorists safe heaven as it was pre 9/11, Pakistan wants to prevent Afghanistan coming under the influence its main enemy India. In Afghanistan you have a weak and corrupt Government, one that can see that the US and UK plan to leave by 2015, they don’t want to be hung from the nearest post once the US has left. Thus in PR terms Kabul places a hostile face when it comes to the relationship with the Western Allies, Kabul from its own perspective might have to do deal with the Afghanistan Taliban post 2015, thus it is keeping its options open. Thus the US Afghanistan/Pakistan policy in complex and enigmatic on any given day, the death of Bin Laden will force President Obama to justify keeping US troops in Afghanistan as keeping to the NATO plan, thus those polls hikes might go away fast folks.
