As Lady Thatcher said Betrayal with a smile, that was after 11 years in power.  Sir Keir Starmer has only been in power for 2 years and bit.  I could be WRONG, I think Sir Keir is the shorters serving Labour PM, for the later half of the 20 Century and 21st Century, even Gordon Brown served 3 years before losing the 2010 Election.  ALL political careers end in failure, the fall of Sir Keir will make the history books, for the WRONG reasons.

Politicians never learn when their time is Up, Lady T served to long, Sir Tony Blair kept Brown waiting for years, Starmer has lost the trust of the people.  The latest crisis over Defence spending shows that Starmer is not up to the job.  The question is will Andy Burnham, Wes Streeting be any better, will Putin wait before taking action.

Dark Prince, Lord Peter Mandelson arrested - Update

This is a shock, this blog thought the Mandelson  case had gone quiet.  It was just a matter of time, it is reported that former PM, Gordon Brown is furious with Mandelson, he made the Dark Prince his Deputy after all, did the security services check him out at the time.  Have noticed Tony Blair has been very quiet about Mandelson, he was his friend, bought him back to government after he was forced to resign.  ONE does question the judgement of Blair, Brown and Starmer, the present PM.  The cases of Mounbatten- Windsor( Australia has agreed to drop Andrew from the line of succession to the Crown ) and Mandelson will take a long time, both arrested on the same charge.

Update: Lord Mandelson was released last night on bail.  There were no remarks from the disgraced Peer.  This is a surprise, New Labour was all about spin!

Lets Get Real

THIS was a mild critic, in other wise full of praise statement.  NO American of a certain age can forget 444 days that Iran held 52 American hostages, the depression of the Carter years, the invasion of Afghanistan, the inflation of the 1970s.  The judgment was simple no American candidate wants to be compared to Jimmy Carter!  There was the success of Camp David Accords, bringing peace between Israel and Egypt.  Lets send our sympathy to the Carter family today.

The UK PM Boris Johnson is falling in to the FAILED PM League headed by Neville Chamberlain and at the bottom former PM May.  The PM set a deadline, of the 15th of October NOW he is rowing back, this is what the EU wants, drag out the talks, endless and give a the UK a bad deal at the end, they play this game all the time.  The French play the tough guys, while the Germans have the soothing words.  The PM should walk away form the talks, that would force the EU on to UK ground, and OUR FISH and OUR WATERS should remain British.  The critics of the PM could be weak, he doe u - turns and is not on top of the detail.

The Labour Leadership CONTEST - General Election 2024

The next general election will be in 2024, the Labour Party could decided the result now if it elects the right next leader.   The negatives for Labour would be Sir Keir Starmer and Emily Thornberry, they are London MPs and firm Remainer supporters.  While the election of Lisa Nandy or Jess Phillips would give the Labour Party a chance in 2024.  The PROBLEM with Ms Phillips is that she is a Remainer, and has stated that she would support going back in to the EU.   That will not go down well with Northern and Midlands Labour supporters, who voted Conservative first the time, as to get BREXIT DONE.   This blog is not a Labour supporting blog, that is VERY CLEAR, but its once piece of advice for Labour voters is vote for Lisa Nandy, she just might be the ticket to win in 2024.

The NEW Brexit Deadline - 31st of October - Brexit Update 1 - NO BREXIT

Thus the UK leaving date for EXITING the EU has been thrown in the long grass, the EU compromise is now 31st of October, Halloween, someone has a ironic sense of humour.  The six month delay allows the Conservative Party to have a LEADERSHIP contest, it could also allow the Labour Party to get a customs deal with the PM May before she is thrown out of office, also time to get such an agreement in to UK Law, thus making sure that the next leader can not tear it up when he or she comes in to 10 Downing Street.   It looks like the UK will have to spend a hundred million pounds on the Euro elections, this is a travesty of democracy, the UK voter voted to leave in 2016 and 3 years later we are taking part in the Euro Parliamentary elections.    The UK voter should vote for the new BREXIT PARTY, let's make the EU regret ever hearing of the UK in the EU.  It is really time for PM May to go, she has been the worse PM since Ted Heath in the 1970s on the Conservative side and Gordon Brown for Labour.

Jeremy Corbyn is not an anti-semite, one has to be careful before one calls someone a racist.   The left wing as represented by Jeremy Corbyn has a negative view of the policies of the Israeli Government, while this blog supports on the whole Israel and its policies.   The Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn has gained extreme followers on the left, they see the State of Israel taking up space that belongs to the Palestinian people, they live in idealism, not the real World.   Let's be honest, those anti Corbyn MPs will use this debate to undermine him, if they had any honour they would leave the Labour Party and form their own Party, a Centre left Party that is pro Israel, and pro EU.  The Labour Party under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown is DEAD in the WATER, New Labour has gone the way of the dodos.

The faith in the EU is like a religion to the moaning remainers, the former Prime Minister Gordon Brown expects the EU to come up a way for the UK to stay in the in the EU.   The more the remainers ACT as if they are better than Democracy then the more this blog supports a HARD BREXIT, that might be the only way to make the remainers wake up, the decision has been taken by the British public, time for the Conservative Government to get on with the will of the British people.   Time for a HARD BREXIT. 

The Revenge of the Brexit Young - GE2017

This was a shocking election, ALL the polls got it wrong, with the honourable exception of Survation, even this blog got it WRONG.  The General Election of 2017 saw the young get active in politics, okay they voted for Labour and without a smartphone could not find themselves out of a paper bag!!!  The Conservative manifesto on a tax on the old really hit the Conservatives HARD, it will be interesting to see how many older voters voted Labour or returned to Labour.  It has to be said that Jeremy Corbyn had a good night, but he only gained a few seats more that Gordon Brown got in 2010, the BBC are acting as if he WON the election, he did not, and the Conservatives should make sure that they keep the DUP on side as to keep themselves in power and keep Corbyn out.  The Conservatives should try to wear down the young vote, once they get the FACT that Labour will not be forming a Government they might lose interest.  On Brexit the Conservatives should be tough, NO ONE wants to see a land border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, thus on this the both the DUP and the Conservatives are on the same side, also after that the DUP and the Conservatives want the same thing, the UK controlling its laws, leaving the single market and allowing the UK to make its own trade deals.  The BBC are acting as if a coalition between the Conservatives and the DUP is the worse thing that has even happened, we shall see.  The next few weeks and months will be interesting. 

When will the Corbyn nightmare END - Corbyn Era

Telegraph: Reports on a Shadow Cabinet member on Corbyn, " .. is not credible enough to lead Labour to victory, a member of his shadow cabinet has said after the party suffered its worst result at the local elections for 30 years and was beaten into third place in Scotland. "

The Labour Party has to learn to LOVE Tony Blair again, that is the only way it can win a election, it must get rid of Corbyn and his fellow travellers on the left and return the Labour Party to the middle of UK politics.  There needs to be a coup against Corbyn, a new leader needs time to bed in, the more that Labour waits the harder it will be to get rid of Corbyn, that was the mistake with Brown and Miliband, in election cycles Party loyalty does not matter, it is about winning. 

The Labour Party and the Paris Terrorist Attacks

BBC News - Politics: Reports the following in its 6.03pm post, " In the light of events in Paris this week, Labour MP Caroline Flint says the party "has to act with certainty and one voice" when it comes to defence policy.    "It didn't help this week when it seemed when faced with the prospect of a terrorist attack on the streets of London and how the police might respond, we seemed to have one point of view put forward by Jeremy [Corbyn], and another one contradicted by Hilary Benn."

The Labour Party on defence and many others is falling apart, it has different voices coming out, the Labour Party needs to remove Jeremy Corby and fast, it can not wait as it did with Gordon Brown, Ed Miliband, if it does wait it will lose the 2020 election before even a vote is cast.   The Labour Party should recall the disaster of 1983, yes it could be that BAD, time for Labour to grow up or shut up shop.  Any Party that elects Jeremy Corbyn is MAD anyway.

This is the leader chosen by Labour voters, a man that can not be trusted to defend the Realm, has stated he would never use our nuclear weapons if the day ever came. One can see terrorists having a free reign if Corbyn was ever in power in 10 Downing Street, his remarks show that he is not fit to be a leader of a UK political Party, it is about time that the Labour MPs grew a back bone and something other things and threw Corbyn out, there is more of them than his supporters.    Or if that fails they should form an their own Party, become the Official Opposition, but that takes a back bone and Labour has not shown that with Gordon Brown, Ed Miliband and now Corbyn.

Thus the former PM speaks, the problem is that one of the main problems of Labour in power was the feud between Gordon Brown and Tony Blair, one wanted the others job, while Blair wanted a New Labour Legacy.  As a Conservative blog even this blogger can see how much Brown/Blair could have achieved if they had worked together.   But what they did was to have the usual old Labour feuds updated.   The Labour Party can only be Government in waiting if it recovers some of its Scottish Seats, the question is does Scottish Labour want to be seen as a arm of the main Party, they have come out against Trident, while the majority of Labour MPs support the UK having nuclear missiles.   Thus there are internal breaches that have to be fixed before 2020.

Lets see if former Prime Minister Gordon Brown can BRING the Labour Party to its senses, the former PM was very effective in Scotland when they had their vote if they wanted to remain part of the UK.   THE question is has the old New Labour hands left it to late to change the course of the leadership election.   The BIG MO is behind Corbyn, it almost like the Labour Party has given up on government for the future and is looking to be politically pure.   THERE is a cost to being pure, you're not in government and its not fun being in the opposition for two decades. 

End the Labour Madness - Alan Johnson, Former Home Secretary

The problem with Yvetter Cooper is that she is married to Ed Balls, the once right hand man for Gordon Brown, the Blair or virus section of the party might think they have gone down the Gordon Brown road with Ed Miliband and do not want to lose in 2020.   But on the other hand it would allow time for David Miliband to come back after a few years and take the Party in to the 2020 election, as a campaigner Ms Cooper does not impress and is too rigid in the House of Commons.  At least Ms Cooper is not CORBYN, and it would be up to her to show that Ed Balls is not pulling the strings from behiond the curtain or their front door.   If only Mr Johnson had wanted to be leader, he would have saved the Party a lot of stress over the last few weeks. 

The Greeks in Default - Greek Crisis

Thus the Greeks will be in default what ever the IMF call it, they should be treated harshly, otherwise the idea will get formed in other Countries that they can spend on welfare and the German tax payer will pick up the tap, the EU/IMF can not allow the idea to form that Countries can default on their loans and there are no results.    The whole system could be called in to question if the Greeks are let off their debts.   The Euro will not last if the German taxpayer has enough, who else will get their wallet out to bailout the EU.   This economic harshness is needed, there has to be a clear message, if you spend to much as the Gordon Brown government did between 2007/10 there are bad results for the Country and political parties, the UK went through a deep recession and the Labour Party has lost two general elections, one in 2010 and 2015.

The Labour Party has to get over Iraq, it needs to bring Tony Blair in from the cold, it needs advice on how to WIN elections, otherwise it will become a walking dead party, always the opposition never the government.  The UK system works best when there is a decent opposition, not the present mess of a weak Party with a leadership contest on going, everyone in the Shadow Cabinet is trying to make sure they are not sacked by the new leader, thus no one wants to lead on anything in case the new leader junks that idea.   THUS LABOUR, BRING BACK BLAIR. 

Labour's Northern Mistake - Post 2015 Election

Thus Labour has a major problem in Scotland were it has almost been wiped out, it needs to get Southern Seats as to form a Government and it is allowing the Conservatives to steal a march on them in the North.    One has to ask can Labour even be saved, without Scotland there is no majority Labour Government, but once Labour heartland is now SNP heartland.   The Labour Party has to build up from the ground, it has to learn what really moves Scottish voters, they voted to stay part of the UK, thus they must be open to Union Parties, such as Labour, what do Scottish voters want to hear and how can that be squared with the North and Southern England.    This is a major electoral operation, and we have the Scottish elections next year, Labour does not have long to develop a new political strategy.

Thank God the above crowd did not win the last election, it would have seen the return of the Blair and Brown years of warfare, the Labour Party has to get over New Labour period, yes they won three elections but the bad blood in Labour goes on.    A new leader needs to follow the agenda of Blair but also keep the Labour Party in the centre, its is difficult when in the Southern England the Labour Party was thrashed, and in Scotland the Labour Party now has only 1 MP, the same as the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives, the Southern voters want a UK government to be tough on welfare while Scottish voters want to end to the era of austerity.   The Labour Party can only win power again when it works out how to have Scottish and Southern English voters voting for them, its not easy voter.
