Why Hillary Clinton LOST in 2016 - Trump Era

Lets Get Real:

IF you are interested in politics you will read Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes’s new book on the 2016 Campaign, Shattered, it so popular by book shop had to wait in till it was being sent out again by his stockist.   It can be argued that in modern politics, the elections of 2000 and 2016 are the most interesting, Vice - President Al Gore should have won, the US was at peace the economy was going well, his one problem from his perspective was his boss, President Clinton has just about survived Impeachment, and thus the Gore Campaign wanted some distance from the Candidate Gore and the President.   It has been argued that was a mistake, that Bill Clinton was still popular, and could have helped in the South, but even Gore could not win his own home State, thus he failed to get the Presidency.   In 2016 was the turn of Hillary Clinton, the wife of Bill, former Senator and Secretary of State.  Bill Clinton told her to go after the White Vote, she did not listen, and thus lost the rust belt States.   What ever you think about Bill, he has politics in his blood, he understands the process.  Could HRC give it another try in 2020, never say never!

More US Troops for Afghanistan ? - Afghanistan Theatre - Trum Era

Lets Get Real:

The Afghanistan War has been going on since 2001 after the attacks of 9/11.   The War become a sideshow after the invasion of Iraq and now with the regrowth of the Taliban, the threat from Daesh the Oval has to decide what to do, Bush 43 kept the War at a low level, Obama increased troops but told the other side when they would leave, so the Taliban waited him out, then we come to the Trump Oval, POTUS does not like to lose, but there is a political cost of sending more troops to Afghanistan, it should be recalled the US is now fighting in Iraq again after sending back troops to take on Daesh in Mosul, that fight is on going.  Also the Trump Administration has increased the fight against Daesh around the Middle East.   It would be a strategic mistake to leave Afghanistan, then the Taliban would really win, but more troops, it's a hard decision, well Trump wanted to be President, thus come the hard choices.

A review of a Jeremy Corbyn Speech - Campaign Trail 32 - GE2017

Lets Get Real:

The last few weeks of the Labour Campaign will be about the CORE vote out, trying to get old Labour voters to keep with the Party.   The Corbyn Campaign team understand that they are going to lose, its by how much and can the save THE LEADERSHIP of Jeremy Corbyn.   On June 9th those at the centre and right of the Labour Party will be after the political scalp of Corbyn, if he loses by more than Ed Miliband then he is toast, the Labour Party could be out of power for another decade.  Expect the BBC News/Guardian to soft peddle Labour and go after the Conservatives.   The Conservative Party has to ACT as if it is ten points behind, it must get out the vote on June 8th, the security of the UK is at stake.

Conservatives have 22 Point Lead - Campaign Trail 31 - GE2017

Lets Get Real:

Thus after the local elections in the UK the Conservative Party is back at a 22 point lead, that is good, this blog read a report that the Corbyn Campaign had given up on winning the election as was more interested in keeping its safe seats, it does not want to lose more than Ed Miliband lost in 2015.  The argument from the Corbyn side will be if Corbyn gets the same poll level as Miliband he should not resign.   The left never likes to give up power.   Those at the Centre of the Labour Party and the right might have to form a new political party.  Of course there are a couple of weeks to go, we shall see if the polls are right.

Is the UK going back in to Afghanistan ? - Afghanistan Theatre

Lets Get Real:

What ever you think about the Cameron years as PM you have to consider one policy that was a good idea, that being getting out of Afghanistan.   PM Cameron understood that Afghanistan is a war you can NEVER win, the British, the Russians even the US must get that point.  The UK could send thousands of troops to Afghanistan and it would not make a difference, Afghanistan is the grave yards of Empires, the UK should support NATO, with all but troops, the UK has done its bit for Queen and Country when it comes to Afghanistan.   After Iraq and Afghanistan UK troops need to rest and refit their equipment, there will always be another War.
