Clinton and National Security

The Clinton Machine is going for the throat, very LBJ, in 1964 LBJ ran a political add that suggested that Barry Goldwater would start World War Three. This add by the Clintons is using the Karl Rove Book for getting elected. The Security Mothers that elected Bush 43 in 2004 will be asked to vote for Hillary Clinton, as she will be able to deal with the terrorist threat to the United States. Harsh but very effective but is it to late?

Clinton and the Future?

Salon: A look at Senator Clinton before next Tuesday. The Safe pair of hands against Hope.

The Gipper and Obama Redux

Washington Post: Obama is the Democratic Reagan in essence, and its true. Must Read of the Day.

RCP – Ohio Polls

Ohio is the last firewall for Clinton, if she can make Obama have a narrow victory in Texas, single digits victory then it comes down Ohio. Ohio as stated is a state made for Clinton, women over 50, working class Democrats. The problem is the trade deals made by Bill Clinton in the early 90s is coming back to bite her on the backside. The RCP average of Polls has Clinton ahead by 5%, but some individual polls show a very narrow lead. Lets again look at Zogby, Clinton is leading by two points, Clinton 44%, Obama 42%. Obama is cutting in to the female vote, the bedrock for the Clinton Campaign. The election is a few days away; any more slippage and it could all be over for Clinton. Lets looks at Rasmussen, Clinton leads by five points, Clinton 48%, Obama 43%. Clinton has to keep Ohio or its all over, narrow win yes a narrow loss and what started in 1992 comes to end in Ohio 2008.

RCP - Texas Polls

As noted in previous Blog, I have called Texas for Obama; here is the base line for this call. RCP collects the polls and does an average of the Polls. The RCP Average of Polls has Obama ahead of Clinton by 2.4%. Thus here is a look at individual polls and what we can read in to them for next Tuesday, lets start with Zogby, in this Poll Obama is ahead by six points, Obama 48%, Clinton 42%. If this was the actual result or Obama was even further ahead it would be over for Hillary Clinton, the Super Delegates would jump on mass for Obama. The question would be asked, who would tell her its over, Bill Clinton? My favourite Pollster now, Rasmussen, here the lead held by Obama is more narrow, 4 points, Obama 48%, Clinton 44%. If it’s a very narrow Primary and Caucus win for Obama the race wont be over, this could go all the way to the Convention, blood on the carpets, secret deals, like the season six of the West Wing.

Prince Harry of Afghanistan

BBC News: Reports that Prince Harry is to return from Afghanistan after it was leaked that he had been there for two months. The Prince has shown great courage wanting to get to the front line, a tough war in a tough place. HRH has shown by example to his generation that if a Prince of the Blood Royal can fight for his country then more of his generation should consider service in the Armed Forces. I hope the Prince is now allowed some rest and that the press give him a break if he has some fun before return to the army. Again Congrats to Prince Harry, does honour to his family and the country.

Away from the Fury

Its interesting that sometimes you need to take a time out from the fun that is politics, if you follow every detail you can lose the big picture, the end result. The Democratic Debate of this week is an example. As over the Water did not see the full debate and thus had to wait for comment from the other Networks. In this turned to Fox News, they had undecided votes to measure the debate. After I listened to them one would get the impression that it was Clinton victory on substance, as in policy. But it shows you have to wait to see what the general view, on the whole from the reviews it was seen that Clinton did not win, and also she came under critical review for her complaint the she got the first question all the time. As was pointed out on the News Channels, if you going to President of the United States, you always get the first question, does she expect Bill Clinton to take questions.

On the other hand, one gets the theme that the Elite Media and Bloggers want to finish the Clintons off once and for all; they are in love with Obama to a point. Lets see the Clinton Machine has reported that they have raised over thirty million dollars to fund their campaign. It’s reported that Obama has raised over fifty million. So lets look at Texas and Ohio, as noted in early post have called Texas for Obama, still stand by that opinion. Obama is leading in the Polls by a few points, he was leading by a few points in Wisconsin, and that was a landslide victory. Thus we have the Texas two step, a primary and a caucus, thus the good folks of Texas can vote twice, Obama is good at getting his voters to a caucus, in Ohio Clinton is still ahead, but the point margin does vary. Thus On March 4th Obama should win Texas and a close race in Ohio, the voters of Ohio fit the Clinton Model to gain victory, older women, working class Democrats. Thus the race will go unless Obama can win both Texas and Ohio.

President Ronald Reagan and Senator Obama

Richard Reeves: An excellent article by the recent biographer of Ronald Reagan, how both Reagan and Obama get the point of an Election and how Hillary Clinton does not cut the mustard. In essence Reagan could make a speech that would make you follow him to hell and back, because it was the right thing to do, he made you believe in our better angels not our darker souls. When tragedy with the loss of the Shuttle, he allowed the nation to mourn but also understand that the future of man was out in the stars. He called a spade a spade, the Soviet Union was an Evil Empire, and he was a light of freedom for Eastern Europe. Reagan’s “ Tear down this wall, Mr Gorbachev ” spoke to the freedom in the hearts of all. When he made mistakes he did not hide and try to devise a new English Language, he took the helm and took responsibility, as was the case in Iran – Contra. Reagan was a the last great President of the 20th Century, he was not some micro manager like Jimmy Carter who ran the White House Tennis Court, he wanted to free Eastern Europe, end Soviet Power and make the USA great again. That is a great Presidency.

Senator Obama allows you to feel hope, its up to the American People to decide if he can be a great President.

New Texas Poll - Obama Ahead

The second poll to show Senator Obama ahead in Texas, this and the CNN poll, confirms a trend for the Senator. Recall the words of Bill Clinton, if Senator Hillary Clinton was to lose Texas then its all over, is the road set can there be a return from a failed Presidential run.

Survey USA:

Obama 49 %

Clinton 45 %

I am going to take a risk and call Texas for Obama, not because I am under Obama mania but I think the trend has a pattern, Obama just might win Texas BIG. It could all be over by March 4th.

New Ohio Poll – Trouble for Clinton

Drudge Report: A new poll by the respect pollster Rasmussen shows that Clinton attacks on Obama have failed so far:

Clinton 48 %

Obama 43 %

Clinton has a five percentage lead, if she was to lose Texas and Ohio it would be all over, no come back. The Republicans need Hillary Clinton in the race, she has so much baggage with herself and with Bill, Republicans should vote for her in Texas and Ohio, Obama hard to beat and would bring over a lot of Conservatives over to vote for him. This might sound like going beyond the pale, but we need Hillary Clinton in the race, then Senator McCain can have a landslide.

Inside the Clinton Machine

The Politico: If you’re the Titanic, e.g. the Clinton Machine, and you have hit an iceberg, e.g. Obama Mania if you like and your going down and you want have a career in Democratic Politics when do you hit the life boats and save your own future prospects. All those in the Clinton Cadre need to look to their own future. Thus a very interesting article by The Politico. Failure has many fathers (JFK If recall about the Bay of Pigs) thus the blame game has started in the Clinton Mean Machine.

Obama Scandal?

The Times: An old semi scandal comes back to haunt Obama, all quite complicated, the Senator enlarged his garden at a discount to his true value. The Seller a friend is under corruption chargers in the USA. This sounds very Chicago sorry to say, recall 1960 any one. This article like the New York Times article, at the end of the day, proves nothing against Obama, so one has to ask, is the Clinton Machine behind this issue in some form. All very odd.

Obama another President Carter?

New York Observer: Looking at the comparison between Obama and Jimmy Carter. Very interesting article that looks at the 1976 match up between Ford and Carter. As then the race brings up the same questions, 1976 was very close. It should be noted then there was no Internet and Bloggers, Obama will get thorough scrutiny from this part of the Press Estate. Must Read of the Day.

Reagan and Obama and the Spoken Word

WSJ: A great article that looks at the appeal of Obama and how both Reagan and Obama are see by their critics as empty suits, good on the stump but lack depth. The Democrats paid a price for that arrogant opinion in 1980 and 1984. Is Obama the Democratic Reagan, yes is the simple answer. This is not Obama Mania but after looking and listening to the candidate for over a year he does recall the Gipper. I don’t have to agree with any or all of his polices to trust the man. I am willing to take a risk and trust him to be a great President.

New Texas Poll

CNN: A new poll by CNN has Obama ahead by 4 points, Obama 50%, Clinton 46 %. Due to the margin of error of the poll it is a tie. But we still have a few days to go and Obama could build on this lead. This was predicted in a recent post by VIEWS.

The Plot and losing the Plot!!

Washington Post: When the Elite Press meet the Clinton Machine, read and tell me who has lot the plot, my money on the Clinton Machine. Read of the Day.

The Final Throw of the Dice!

New York Times: Well here it is folks, all or nothing, the NYT states this is the final throw for the Clinton Mean Machine. If Clinton does not take Obama down at the debate or in Texas and Ohio it could all be over for Hillary Clinton.

Reagan – Gorbachev Movie

BBC News: Reports that Sir Ridley Scott is to produce a movie on the meeting between Reagan and Gorbachev at Reykjavik in 1986. VIEWS still has the ITV production from the late 80s, will be interesting to compare and contrast both productions. Lets hope it nothing like the TV series that was slated by Conservatives, as that series was out to smear the President, lets hope we have fair and balance production but this is Hollywood.

Calling the Candidates - 08

Calling the Candidates

Enough folks, lets talk about the issues, Iraq, Terrorism, Iran, the big stuff, cut the crap, and that's being delicate.

Get Out Senator?

Newsweek: Interesting article that shows the split in the Elite Media, on the one hand they want to unite the Democratic Party, in this case under Obama, but as the press they want a long hard, blood on the carpets Political convention. In their hearts of hearts the Elite Media cant stand the Clintons, they have a new Champion, and he is called Obama.

Its not over till the Lady sings!!

Chicago Sun-Times: Robert Novak looks at the delicate job of who will have to tell Hillary Clinton its over, about time Bill Clinton did the decent thing; tell his wife its over; it would be the first time.

Obama on the attack – That Picture

The Politico: The Obama response team are on the attack, time to take the Clinton Machine down, the Clintons have no shame, lets recall 1998. If the Clintons want to play in the swap lets get in to the fight. The problem if you don’t fight back, they might get a few votes, and if close election that all they need in Texas. If Obama Camp would not want to get in to the gutter with the Clinton Machine, but this makes Richard Nixon look like a Saint. Watergate is nothing compared to the racist campaign of the Clinton Machine.

Drudge Latest – That picture!

Drudge Report: Drudge has a look at the back and forth between the Obama and Clinton Camp on that picture. Read of the Day.

Clinton and Dirty Pool

This afternoon VIEWS nearly choked on his tea when he saw the latest dirty pool by the Clinton Campaign. The Drudge Report was reporting that the Clinton Mean Machine was circulating a picture of Obama in traditional African Dress, taken a few years ago when the Senator was on a Senate Trip. I know the Clinton Mean Machine wants to win but does it want to destroy the Democratic Party in the Process. VIEWS is no Liberal, and likes brutal politics, its fun and honest but this picture rubbish is so sad and racist that I refuse to put in on this Blog. The Mean Machine can do its own dirty pool; on this will keep my hands clean. That is more than can be said about the Clinton Machine.

Obama the Democratic Reagan

San Diego Union-Trib: Comparing Obama to Ronald Reagan. Must Read of the Day.

Hillary Still in the Building, the Staff is out!!

New York Times: What an article by the NYT, its almost a eulogy to the Hillary Clinton Campaign, going through the motions when you know its over, like Huckabee in some respects. Come on Hillary Clinton win will you, we need you in the General Election.

Nothing to Lose?

WSJ: Reports on the surge of attacks on Senator Obama by the Clinton Machine. As has been noted by other papers and by the WSJ, Clinton limited the attacks in the Presidential Debate on Thursday, this lack of a successful debate and moved the Clinton Machine to go on the attack no matter the effect on the Democratic Party.

Shame on Clinton?

BBC News: Reports Hillary Clinton has gone negative, she has accused Senator Obama of stating false information about her polices in a political leaflet. The BBC reports she has stated to a crowed, “ Shame on you, Barack Obama ”. It’s a pity Senator Clinton was not as tough on her husband in 1998. That was a shameful period in American Politics.

Saturday, February 23, 2008

Obama and Afghanistan

Fox News: Reports that the Statement made by Senator Obama that troops sent to Afghanistan did not have the full kit has come under question from the Defense Department in the USA. Afghanistan has become the shadow War; Iraq has become political football between the Republicans and the Democrats. The Democrats dare not suggest pull out of Afghanistan. It can be argued that from a certain perspective that Afghanistan is a just war while Iraq is seen by those on the left as an unjust war, a war of choice.

McCain and the New York Times

New York Times: Interesting article by they LIBERAL NYT on its fight with Senator John McCain. On the whole very fair article, am somewhat surprised. I guess if you have shot your shelf in the foot and your in a hole, time to retreat and act as if you are the paper of record for the United State not an arm of the Democratic Party. This won’t last long. McCain 1 - 0 NYT.

New Texas Poll

ABC News/Washington Post: Has Clinton and Obama tied in the State. Obama by March 4th could be in the lead if these poll results follow this pattern. The Poll states the following:

Clinton 48 %

Obama 47 %

Texas will hold a Primary and a Caucus on the same day. Both choose the Delegates, and within that context the delegates are in major urban centres that will help Obama. Obama has a great field operation to get his supporters to vote. If your Obama supporter remember you have two votes in Texas, the Primary Vote and then you must Caucus to gain more delegates. Politics is fun.

RCP – Delegate Count – Democrats

RCP: As of this Friday, Senator Obama is leading Senator by ninety-two delegates, this includes Super Delegates. The Count stands at the following.

Obama 1363

Clinton 1271

Senator Clinton has to wing big in Texas and Ohio; a close victory is not good enough, if close Obama wins the nomination.

Thank you Mr President

IBD: States it’s thanks to Ronald Reagan for SDI and the son of SDI. The recent use to shoot down a falling Satellite shows again why Ronald Reagan was a great President. Thank you Mr President, So Say We All.

The Democratic Debate – Media Review

New York Times: The Liberal Establishment Newspaper has the view that Senator Clinton has more work to do if she wants take Obama down a beg or two!! The paper states the following, “ After the 90 minute face-off was over, it was not clear that Mrs. Clinton, in the toughest position of the campaign for her, had done enough to change the course of the contest. In American Politics you don’t get second chances to win, Clinton has one more debate or it’s almost over for the Clinton Machine. The New York Times seems to have bailed on Senator, and is supporting Obama, that’s the impression from the debate.

San Francisco Chronicle
: A draw for Clinton. But she needed a knockout is fighting terms; she has not much time if she really wants the nomination.

Slate
: Clinton didn’t win thus she lost. Politics is harsh, that is why politics is great.

McCain and the Liberal New York Times

The Politico: Looks at how the McCain Campaign dealt with the political smear by the LIBERAL New York Times. If I didn’t know better would think the NYT was trying to help McCain, two things get the Conservatives to the Political Battlements, the thought of Hillary Clinton as the Democratic Nominee and a attack from the NYT on a Conservative.

Note to Readers: Covered this story in December 2007.

Death in Afghanistan

BBC News: Another British Soldier killed this week. The Total now stands at 89. How many more, what is the plan for wining.

New Texas Poll

RCP Blog: A new Poll from CNN, Clinton and Obama are tied in Texas, thus the dirty pool by the Clinton Camp over an Obama Speech. Here is the Poll result:

Clinton 50 %

Obama 48 %

Expect more Dirty pool from the Clinton Camp, they want to win and they don’t care how they win.

Clinton, Obama and the Speech

The Nation: The Bible of the Elite Liberals The Nation has an article on the speech row. They report that the Obama Camp think “…that voters will not be moved by what seems to be a desperate ploy late in a campaign season that is trending Obama's way. ” The Obama camp should be careful, on the whole this row is a 24 hour event, but tomorrow is voting day in Wisconsin and Hawaii, Wisconsin so far has been a very close race, and the Clinton Camp has kept Hillary Clinton in the game, a win in Wisconsin and on March 4th could seal the nomination for Hillary Clinton. As a Conservative want Hillary Clinton to be the nominee, more easily defeated in the General Election.

Bush 43 and the 08 Campaign

New York Times: A very fair and analytical look at the role of George W. Bush in the 08 Campaign. Must Read of the Day.

Bush 41 for McCain

Fox News: If one thinks about it, comes as no great surprise that Bush 41, George H.W. Bush is endorsing John McCain, both are War Heroes and McCain has supporter his son over Iraq. The support should help in the Texas vote, McCain needs to finish off the contest for the Republican nomination and start to plan for the General Election.

New York Times and the Clinton Machine

New York Times: It seems that the Liberal NYT is in the Clinton Camp. They are following up the Clinton Machine attack that Obama is copying a fellow Democrat in his speeches. The NYT writes the following, “ The similarities from a passage of Mr. Obama’s speech on Saturday and in remarks that Mr. Patrick delivered on Oct. 15, 2006, were highlighted by a rival campaign that did not want to be identified. Clips of both speeches are archived on the Web site YouTube.com " Rival Camp, does the NYT think voters are stupid. Poor showing on the part of the NYT, but what do you expect of a paper that will release state secrets.

Clinton Annoyed!!

MSNBC: Bill Clinton has lost his cool again according to MSNBC; did he hit an Obama supporter?

Original Thought!

The Politico: The Clinton Machine is desperate they are now accusing Obama of Plagiarism, although he borrowed some of the speech from another Democrat that Democrat was quoting FDR and JFK. Give me a break, Teddy Kennedy is supporting Obama. The internal polls for the Clinton Machine must be showing that she is under threat in Texas and Ohio, no other reason to play this stupid and crazy game. American Politicians use the themes from the greats all the time, a speech is not an academic exercise, and you don’t expect footnotes for attribution.

Death in Afghanistan

BBC: Reports on the death of another British Soldier in Afghanistan. The Total now stands at 88. What is the WIN plan for the bloody place?

The Media don’t seem to give that much attention to the deaths in Afghanistan, it must seem to them like another Northern Ireland.

RCP – Delegate Scorecard – Democrats

If no candidate on the Democratic side has enough delegates to win outright, it comes down to who has the majority delegates. As of now Obama, if you include Pledge Delegates and Super Delegates is ahead, but we have Texas and Ohio to go, so the Clinton Machine can still pull off a victory. As VIEWS is a Conservative Republican when looking from over the water we want Hillary Clinton as the nominee. If was an American would be an Obama Republican. Thus we need Republicans to vote in Ohio and Texas for Clinton. I know you want to finish her Presidential ambition off at this stage by voting for Obama but think long term, we need her as the Democratic Candidate, then the Republican Party will unite to defeat her, thus support the Clinton Machine in Texas and Ohio. Obama is the better candidate is so many respects but we need Clinton to defeat in November.

The RCP scorecard is Obama 1302, Clinton 1235 , this gives Obama a lead of 67 delegates. Thus as the Democratic Party is running a PR election process, Clinton has to win big in the up coming states. Thus if you’re a Republican lets start to vote for Hillary Clinton.

He’s Back, Guess Who?

CNN: Bill Clinton is back to his favourite subject, yes himself, Obama so far has placed Reagan ahead of him in the Presidential stakes, and now the former President is stating that Obama wants to overlook the 1990s. Don’t we all. He’s back!!

New Polls - Dems

A look at the up coming voting in the Democratic Party. In latest average of polls from Wisconsin the RCP average of Polls has Obama ahead by 4.3%. The Clinton machine has run negative ads but seems to have placed Wisconsin in the Obama camp. In the Texas and Ohio we have the following results, the RCP average of Polls in Texas has Clinton ahead by 10.3%. It should be noted have seen one poll that has Obama ahead. On to Ohio and the RCP average of Polls has Clinton ahead by 17.3%. I would be very surprised if Clinton could keep these leads, if she does then she is back in the game, she has to win these two states and she has to win big. Still give the edge to Obama.

A Liberal Obama ?

Chicago Sun - Times: Robert Novak reports that the Clinton Machine wants to make a point of the fact that Obama is a Liberal and thus cant win a General Election. Thought the Democratic Party at its heart was Liberal.

The Truth from Liberals on McCain

Time: One of the best articles on the election process by Michael Kinsley, how Liberals like Senator McCain and how annoying for the Republicans to nominate a Candidate who has appeal beyond the base even Liberals like McCain. Must read of the day.

The Democratic Convention

New York Times: Reports on the role of Party Elders at the Democratic Convention and the role of Al Gore. What if neither candidate got a majority and Obama turned his delegates over to Gore. Gore – Obama ticket sounds good to Views, it would drive the Clintons up the wall.

MSNBC Delegate Count, Dems

MSNBC: Looks at the Pledge Delegates. Obama leads by one hundred and thirty one delegates over Clinton. NBC has the following tally:

Obama 1116

Clinton 985

If one takes away Super Delegates it’s a tough job for Hillary Clinton to catch up with Obama. Even with Super Delegates she is behind in some delegate counts. Hillary Clinton needs to win big in Ohio and Texas. Wisconsin and Hawaii are up on Tuesday, Wisconsin is closer in polls but as Hawaii is a home state for Obama he should win the state. It’s all down to March the 4th for Clinton.

Wednesday, February 13, 2008

The Truth about Hillary and O8

Orlando Sentinel: James Carville of 1992 Election fame has stated the truth, if the Clinton Machine was to lose Texas or Ohio then it would be over for Hillary Clinton.

A Slur on the Fox Network

New York Times: Views is a great Fox News watcher, Fair and Balanced with its news channel. The New York Times, has a different opinion, here is its latest attack on Fox. Today the paper states the following when comparing Fox to MSNBC, the NYT states the following, “ Even Fox News has many more female anchors, though so many are cookie-cutter blondes that viewers cannot be blamed for thinking it’s one anchor working multiple shifts. “ I have found the female anchors on Fox, intelligent and fun, and dam better looking than Mr O of the No Spin Zone. Go Fox.

Clinton Out ?

The Hill: Dick Morris looks at why in his view the Clinton Machine has lost the plot. Hillary Clinton is less of a favourite than Bill Clinton and Bill Clinton is not on the Xmas Card list for Mr Morris. Nothing like a political advisor scorned.

RCP Delegate Count

I tend to trust the RealClearPolitics site for the Democratic Delegate count; on the whole the numbers are all over the place on different sources. The RCP has Obama ahead but less so than the CBS count, RCP has Obama 1270, Clinton 1231, this makes an Obama delegate count of 39 ahead of Clinton. The elections of March 4th are very important for Clinton she has to not just to win, she has to win big, and a close election will not help, its all PR for the Democrats. Can Obama be stopped that is the question for the Clinton Machine.

No Class !

CNN: It takes a certain kind of class to admit when you have been defeated. CNN reports that the Clinton Campaign did not congratulate Obama on his Tuesday wins, no class tells!!

CBS Delegate Count after Tuesday Election

Last Night and this morning was good for Senator Obama, he won in Virginia, Maryland and D.C. It was a clean sweep. Lets look at the CBS Delegate count for the Democratic Race for President. Obama is ahead by sixty-six delegates, Obama 1251, Clinton 1185, and Obama is going to win more next week. The March 4th Firewall for Clinton has to stand or this race is over. Go Obama.

Monday, February 11, 2008

Tuesday Vote

Vote for McCain and Obama on Tuesday

Delegate Count - RCP

RCP: Has Obama ahead by 5 delegates. Obama 1143, Clinton 1138. This Democratic Delegate mess needs one standard, seen so may different versions of the tally. But trust RCP one of the best Political Sites in the business.

Delegate Update 08

Fox News: Reports on the Delegate Count, Clinton is ahead by 28 Delegates. Clinton 1, 136 and Obama 1, 108. This could be a very long race.

Clinton Strategy and Virginia

The Politico: Reports on the Clinton Strategy to gain some delegates in Virginia. . This would prevent the Obama surge from overtaking her in the delegate count.

Gore Factor ?

New York Daily News: Looks at the prospects of an endorsement of Obama by Al Gore. It would be ultimate revenge for Gore, if had Clinton has not been impeached; Al Gore could have won the Presidency in 2000. Go Gore.

Review – Weekend Vote

The weekend voting in Louisiana, Nebraska, Washington, Maine, and the US Virgin Islands has been a sweep for Senator Obama. Clinton has placed a new Campaign Manger due to the losses of the weekend and the up coming losses on Tuesday. The question now is who has momentum, well that is easy that’s Obama, the next question who is going to win the nomination looking at the votes to come up, it can be argued that the Clinton Machine can not be counted out, on March 4th we have Ohio and Texas, perceived as good states for Clinton and then Pennsylvania on April 22nd. If Clinton can win most of the delegates of Ohio and Texas that would give her combined with Super Delegates just enough delegates to win the nomination. Thus it’s down to these two states. The Obama Camp needs to get close to the Clinton vote, win would be great but a lot of delegates would also be good. If Obama can get to the convention ahead in pledge delegates it would be hard for Clinton to use the Democratic Establishment to put her over, she cant win by one vote, that would be the vote of her husband who is a Super Delegate.

The Game Plan for 08 - Dems

Washington Post: Reports on the game plan for Obama and Clinton, it notes as has been noted by others that Obama is going for the small states, not the usual Democratic States, but he wins big and thus keeps him in the race, while Clinton is using the old method, big states and traditional Democrats voters, women. The problem is that both methods are very successful and counter each other, thus neither candidate is running away with the nomination.

Weekend Election

The Politico: Reports on the weekend elections, how Obama has a good chance to run the board over the weekend but also important by how much the winners win by, it all about delegates in the end. Must Read for Saturday.

Weekend Voting 08

Vote for McCain and Obama

Friday, February 08, 2008

Waterboarding

CNN: Reports that the AG won’t investigate the use of Waterboarding, good for him, we live in a dark and dangerous world. Democracy is the beacon on the hill of freedom, sometimes the agents of freedom have to get their hands dirty so the rest of us can be normal and have a non-threatened existence from terrorists who want to destroy the West.

Obama and Hard Politics

Fox News: Reports that Obama has suggested that the Senator Hillary Clinton release her tax returns as he has during the Campaign. Very smart and tough politics, get it out there and force the press to dig for dirty on the Clinton Money. Very impressed he wants to be President.

Democratic Party anad the Convention

Fox News: Reports on the idea that the Democrats might not have nominee till the Convention. West Wing Season 6. Go Obama.

Bush and the Future ?

New York Times: Bush looks to the future, he is in the same position that President Ronald Reagan was in 1988; he sees this election as much about the future as his Presidency. Reagan was seen as a successful because his Vice – President won the election in 88, it was seen by some as Reagan’s third term. Al Gore did not win in 2000 thus we have Hillary Clinton running now; this in many respects is an election about Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. They both want to be seen as Ronald Reagan!

The VP for McCain

Weekly Standard: A look at those that could be VP for McCain. I think McCain needs a big name, if Clinton wins the Democratic Nomination and that’s a big if, she might pick Obama, therefore McCain needs someone to match Obama, in my view a man that should have been President is Former Secretary of State, General Colin Powell. He has the statue to match Obama, he has served as National Security Advisor to Ronald Reagan, can you see him saying, “ I worked for Ronald Reagan your no Ronald Reagan. “ As National Security Adviser and Secretary of State he was seen as moderate, thus he would appeal to different groups. Thus in Blogger Space lets get Powell on the ticket. Must article of the Day.

The Democratic Race and the Future ?

SFGate: Looks at the prospects that the Democratic Party will not have a nominee by the Convention and the effect of the Super Delegates on the process. Super Delegates are the political establishment of the Democratic Party, elected officials and former Presidents. Yes if Hillary Clinton was to win by one vote, her husband would hand her the Democratic Nomination. Makes 2000 look very Democratic.

Delegate Update - Dems

RCP: Reports that Hillary Clinton is 70 delegates ahead of Senator Obama. In the final total after Super Tuesday, Clinton 1076, Obama 1006 delegates. This could be a very long race. Who has the money could be the define the winner, but lets recall Romney had the money and lost the Republican race for President.

McCain and Conservatives

Washington Post: Looks at how McCain has to get the support of Conservatives and the problems that he has faced. Must Read of the Day.

Mitt Romney Out of 08 Election

BBC News: Mitt Romney out of the race, not a great surprise to readers of this blog. The election focus will know turn to the Democratic Race. GO Obama.

Clinton and 08

RCP: Article on the future of the Clinton Campaign, it does not look good, expect Bill out there causing problems, Bill is back in the building!! ?

Delegates – Update

The Politico: A interesting report from The Politico, it seems that the Obama campaign is arguing that they come out of yesterday with more delegates, Politico states the following on the number crunching by the Obama Camp, “ bringing the to-date total of delegates to 908 for Obama, 884 for Clinton. ” On the whole will go with the RCP count, which has Clinton ahead, but just by 76 delegates. I hate elections when you need a maths degree for internal party rules.

Media Review of Super Tuesday - Democrats

New York Times: A interesting article by Maureen Dowd, telling Obama he is in heavy way fight and that he has to nock down the Clinton Machine. A very good line in the article shows how split Democrats are about this election race between Obama and Clinton, Dowd writes the following on Clinton, “ Darkness seeking darkness. It’s an exhausting specter, and the reason that… so many other Democrats are dashing for daylight and trying to break away from the pathological Clinton path. ” And that is the Liberal New York Times. The truth is this is like 1960, Obama is JFK and Clinton is Nixon, and that race was close very close, Obama still has the chance to show that he is the new King on the Block and that Hillary Clinton is the Queen Mother, no longer Queen.

Super Tuesday - Delegates Result

Well folks its back to the start for the Democrats, the RCP Delegates Table has Clinton on 900 delegates and Obama 824, Obama down by 76. But Obama is lucky as the States coming up should help him as they have a large African – American community, thus a heavy vote for Obama should limit the gains by Hillary Clinton in these states more favourable to the Obama Campaign. On the Republican side McCain has gained 604 delegates compared to the 244 for Romney. This could be the time for Romney to get out, support McCain, might get the VP spot, if Bush 41 can be Vice – President to Ronald Reagan why not Romney for McCain. The 1980s campaign was not a bed of roses; Bush 41 called Reagan’s Economic Plan, Voodoo Economics, but was still chosen for Vice – President. If Romney does not get out, could lose the VP spot to Huckabee. I would not be surprised to see Romney out of the race, very hard for him to catch up with McCain in the following states. McCain has to get conservative support, break bread and win in November.

Super Tuesday - Republican Update

McCain will be the Republican nominee but the race will go on, it really depends on California, if Romney can win and win big that allows him to argue to stay in but if its close and McCain wins and get a majority of the delegates this race should be over by the weekend. As always California is the big cheese in American Politics.

Super Tuesday Update

I think Hillary Clinton will win the nomination, she has the machine, and the power of the machine is overtaking the movement of Obama.

Obama as VP?

CNN: Reports on the prospects of a Clinton – Obama ticket, one word would define this idea. NO.

Vote for McCain and Obama

Women and Clinton, thats Hillary!!

New York Post: Looks at the bedrock of the Clinton Campaign older women over 50. How Obama is gaining ground and how Bill Clinton could be a major obstacle to Hillary Clinton winning the nomination.

Democratic Mess

Robert Novak: Looks at the mess that is the Democratic selection process. The system was devised by a Clinton friend, it has backfired, that is why politics is fun.

The Clinton Plan

New York Post: Dick Morris has a look at the Clinton Strategy, past, and present and what the future might hold. Worth a Read.

California Dreaming - Poll

Well tomorrow is the day, Super Duper Tuesday, heaven for us political geeks but a long night for the campaigns. Lets look at Super Duper California, Romney and Obama have over taken the previous leaders, McCain and Clinton. It should be noted that Obama could win the state but due to the Democratic system of the Democrats, Clinton could nab a lot more delegates due to the fact that each Congressional District gets a few delegates. It’s all down to maths and percentages have even seen some of the networks have difficult with the system. Simple by the end of Tuesday, it could be that we are back at the start, McCain v Romney and Clinton v Obama each with the same about of delegates. It really depends on California. Thus lets have a look at the latest Zogby Tracking Poll.

On the Republican side we have the following results:

Romney 40 %

McCain 32 %

The thought that Senator John McCain could win the nomination has pushed the Conservatives in to one final effort to stop him in California. Is it to late, still to close to call.

On the Democratic side we have the following results:

Obama 46 %

Clinton 40 %

If Obama can win big in California and take the delegates in the Congressional Districts then Clinton might be in trouble.

It would be ironic if at the end of this, it were a Romney v Obama race.

O Money O Money !!

New York Times: Reports on the Money trail of both the Republicans and Democrats. The use of selected political commercials that feeds in to the views of the voters in different parts of the country. The article states the following on the Democratic Race for President, “ (Obama and Clinton ) have unleashed advertisements in nearly all the 22 states that have Democratic presidential nominating contests on Tuesday, a combined $19 million expenditure that is the most ambitious and geographically expansive television effort in a presidential primary. Of late Obama has raised over thirty million this will help him with the TV add buys. Clinton has bought an hour on the Hallmark channel, that is an expensive buy. This does recall Nixon adds of 1968, in 1968 Nixon did not debate, he recalled 1960, why take the chance! He had his Man in the arena; he took questions from voters while standing in an arena. Have my doubts that Senator Hillary Clinton will get any hard questions, soft questions like the one that made her cry in New Hampshire. That might be the point; Hallmark has a certain demographic, women voters thus the backbone for the Clinton Machine. Must Read of the Day.

No Winner ?

Fox News: Looks at the prospect that neither Republican or Democratic contests will have a clear winner, the Republican race looks more likely to have a winner due to the structure of some states, winner takes all the delegates. Super Tuesday should be a long night for bloggers and political geeks.

Washington Post Poll

Washington Post: A new National Poll from the Post, Clinton and McCain lead their respected races, the Democratic race is a lot closer, Clinton 47 %, Obama 43 %, on the Republican side the margin is more, McCain 48%, Romney 24 %. If this result follows through on Tuesday, McCain should have an easy win, while on the Democratic side the race will go on to other primary and caucus states.

Romney v Huckabee

Fox News: Reports on the fight between Romney and Huckabee, the Romney camp is worried that Huckabee is taking Conservative votes from Romney and thus will allow McCain to win the nomination. Huckabee has the right to stay in and he should fight in the South, Huckabee is the real deal compared to the phoney that is Mitt Romney.

Washington Post v Bill Clinton

Washington Post: As we come close to Super Tuesday, and should Hillary Clinton win, then the record of the 42nd President will be looked at by the Republicans, the Post states the following on the Clinton record, “ the scandals and partisan battles that consumed so much of the 1990s.will come under even more scrutiny that the Democratic voters have given the Clintons. If it is Hillary Clinton expect every scandal or statement under oath to be raked all over again, Liberals will not be able to hide, do they want to have to defend Bill Clinton again and the stained dress. Thus is the time for change and for Obama.

Calfornia Polls - Democrats

Well since over twenty states are either having a primary or a caucus on Super Tuesday, have decided to check out few of the interesting polls for those states. Lets start with California. The respected Pollster Rasmussen has Clinton 43 %, Obama 40 %, this was before Edwards was out of the race, depends on how his supporters vote on Tuesday. The other respected Pollster, Zogby has a poll with Edwards out of the race, here the results are changed, Obama 45 %, Clinton 41 %.. The RCP average of Polls has Clinton ahead by 2.5%. The race is to close to call in the State.

Romney VP ?

The Politico: Looks at the internal problems within the Romney Campaign after Florida, how McCain is looking like the winner, how the powerful Conservatives in the Media, are worried that if McCain wins they will lose their influence. I think if McCain wins big on Tuesday, and is close to the nomination that Romney will pull out, would McCain make him the VP and thus make conservatives happy for November.

Romney and the 08 Race

New York Times: Reports on the Romney Campaign, can they go beyond Super Tuesday, they have the money and are planning for the long haul. NYT wants Romney as the Republican candidate as the Liberal NYT sees him as more easy to beat. John McCain would be a lot harder for Clinton or Obama to win against in November.

Gore Support ?

The Atlantic: Interesting article that looks at the prospects of a Gore endorsement of Obama. Gore cant stand the Clintons. He thinks he lost in 2000 because of the Impeachment of Bill Clinton. It would be a way to really get back at the Clintons if he was to endorse Obama.

Super Tuesday O8

Sunday Times ( UK ): Looks at the surge of Obama. Can the Obama surge equal the Clinton Machine on Tuesday ?

Democratic Presidential Debate – Review – Subjective

They both want to raise taxes, on the whole support amnesty for illegal immigrants and want to surrender in Iraq. If a Republican operative would love to run against either. Think Walter Mondale and Al Gore, John Kerry combined and see the fun adds that the Republican nominee can run.

Democratic Presidential Debate – Review – Objective

The Republican Debate had fire works, this one was dull, the first hour and quarter was really dull, got interesting on Iraq. Obama had the better card, never supported going to war in Iraq, while Clinton had to defend her vote and her new policy to follow the Democratic line on Iraq. On the whole both came out with no damage, lets see what happens on Super Tuesday.
