A Tribute to Columbo - On a Par with Mr Holmes

Telegraph: A excellent article on the TV Detective Columbo as played by the great Peter Falk. Have to admit have a soft spot also for Columbo, totally different from Mr Holmes, of course one is fiction and other has since retired to look after his bees!! Columbo is the everyman detective but with sharp brain that would give Mr Holmes a run for his money, I do wonder of the two who would solve the same case first, Mr Holmes has been known to need some extra clearing of the mind to get the result, and Columbo seems to be in fog but his mind is always working. I do recall in one case Columbo stated that on the whole he like those that he was chasing, Mr Holmes is not quite a people person and has a low, very low opinion of the Police, in some case acting as Judge and Jury, not Columbo, hard to pick folks, will have to think!

" Lets hope this is the last death this month, this year, I have my doubts, our prays are with Craftsman Lombardi's family.

The New York Times: Reports on the second term for President Ahmadinejad, the NYT writes the following, " adversaries shunning the ceremony and with security forces on the streets, .....deepest crisis since the Islamic Revolution 30 years ago." It comes down to the clock, how fast can Iran go nuclear before Israel mounts a military strike on Iran. Israel will also have taken a lesson from the Bill Clinton trip to North Korea, it will understand that President Obama likes bullies, there can be no other reason for the trip by a former President of the United States and husband of the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to North Korea. Its what North Korea wanted, and this was done by going nuclear and testing missiles. By allowing Bill Clinton to go to North Korea the Obama Administration might just have place three US holidaymakers on trial in Iran. If your Ahmadinejad with no morales and wanting to divert the attention of the civic society what do you do, simple place Americans on trial, in public, after torture have them confess to being spies, then threaten them with long jail time or death. This would force Obama to react, another special envoy, who this time, Jimmy Carter or Bill Clinton. One can guess it would be Jimmy Carter, the flawed deal Carter did with North Korea in the mid 1990s is the reason for the present problems with North Korea. Thus expect another trial folks, and expect Obama to appease Iran, but the problem is Israel might hit Iran and force Obama to grow a backbone and be the Leader of the West.

The Obama sources seem over eager from this view to be selling the idea that the trip had nothing to do with the nuclear issue, just the release the reporters. One word - RUBBISH. If they Obama didn't use the talks between North Korean leader and Bill Clinton to get discussions going on the nuclear issue then they missed a trick. Lets be honest and direct here, North Korea is a nuclear armed power, they are not going to give that up, that only reason that the world even knows where North Korea is, so what kind of deal will take for them not to sell the nuclear info to Iran and to keep themselves in their own box and not to cause problems for South Korea and the USA. What is the deal that the West, in this case Obama can sell as success, a Non Aggression Pact, trade deals etc. Think Iran with the bomb, this is North Korea, we cant topple them, we need a deal, the problem with the visit is that Iran will get the same idea.

Rasmussen Reports: That President Obama's approval ratings have taken a hit again, the latest daily tracking poll has Obama at 49% approval and 51% disapproval. Its a combination of health reform and the lack of jobs for those that have been made redundant due to the recession. The more the Presidents polls numbers goes down to in to the 40% the more he losses power on the Hill. The Congress works by fear, your either afraid of the President or you find you have to go to the dentist if he turns up in your state. The problem for President Obama is that there is no no Health Care Reform Bill, its all abstract, thus hard to defend a enigmatic thought. Lets be clear this blog is not opposed to Health Care Reform, heard that IBM pays out a Billion dollars a year on Health coverage, that's ridicules, thus what is need is pragmatic Health Care Reform coverage. Health reform that does not punish you if your old, one gets the impression from the Obama package that they wish that after you pass 65 for you fall of your perch, because they are not going pay the money out if your ill and old, they seem to want to talk you to death, well with modern medicine you can retire at 61 and live for another forty or fifty years, you have paid your dues thus you should have the right to latest medical knowledge and treatment, not a discussion that your to old.
