The CNN Debate - Republican Debate

CNN: Reports on its Thursday Debate ( Friday morning UK Time ) in the Republican Race, the article states the following in Romney and Gingrich, “ ..for the two men in the middle, the spotlight might be a bit hotter. ”. This is the time for Governor Romney to take the fight to Speaker Gingrich, go through all his negatives, stress that the Republican voter has to think who can beat President Obama. The Speaker in return didn’t have a good first debate in Florida after the winning South Carolina, the Speaker blamed the fact that the audience were not allowed to react, he has stated he will not take part in debates if this is the rule. Thus Gingrich will playing to the debate audience and those on TV, he is looking to repeat his performance in South Carolina. The race is tied but there are showing signs that the Romney fight back has worked. Thus Gingrich has win Florida, later contests help Paul and Romney, if he is to be real contender he has to win, if Romney wins he will be the nominee but it will be a long fight.

Brokered Convention - Republican Race

Guardian: Reports on the prospects of a Brokered Convention, that being no Candidate having a majority of the delegates by the times of the Republican Convention, the article states the following on such an event, “ ..used to be common.. But the last truly brokered convention in American politics happened in 1952. ”. This would allow a new Candidate to take the nomination, but it would be risky, all the baggage of the Candidates have been exposed in the nomination race, a new candidate would not have been tested. On the other hand it would limit the damage the Democrats could do, they could not define the Nominee before the Convention, it would give the Republican Convention a buzz, the media would be all over it, thus a chance for a new Nominee to get good press. But since the modern ERA, it has been down to delegate count, lets recall Ronald Reagan only lost to President Ford by a hundred delegates, still more chance that either Romney or Gingrich will be the nominee, the good money on Romney.
