There will be no Trump on the ticket in 2028, the first time since 2012 and Romney challenged President Obama.  The Democrats have had female nominee's who went on to lose, Clinton in 2016 and VP Harris in 2024, will they  chance their luck again and have another female nominee, Former VP Harris might run again, but this time she will face a contest from Democratic Governors, her advantage is that she does not have to defend President Biden, she can throw him under the bus this time.  Also the Democratic Nominee will have to run on his/her promise for the future.  The campaign can't just be about how bad Trump is, the American people want hope for the future.  On the Republican side VP Vance is the leading candidate, he has to worry about what Trump will say or do, the Trump Oval will want to be part of the news cycle, keeping quiet is not part of the Trump persona.

FDR and LBJ will be turning in their graves, Biden was trying even what they never pushed for, welfare from birth to death, the mistake Biden did was not understand or could not recall that FDR and LBJ had big majorities in the House and Senate and LBJ only got his civil rights bill passed with the HELP of Republicans as the Democratic Party then had right wing Democrats as part of its majority.   It has been interesting to watch CNN this morning, they had every LIBERAL on, these Liberals cannot count either, the Democratic Leadership should go to Senator Manchin and tell him to write up a bill, that he likes and support, and also get some moderate Republicans in to the talks, one could see Senator Romney might vote for it, if he can fine tune it, and there might be others, you have to ask people for their vote, not assume its not there or it will be a NO.  The Elite Media Press will want the Biden White House to make life hard for Manchin, let's recall the Democrats only have the majority with Manchin, without Manchin its OVER.  Liberals needs to learn to COUNT.

This blog got one thing right and one thing wrong about the Trial of former President Trump, it got the verdict right, there was never going to be 17 Republican Senators going to convict the Trumpster, the ones that did are on the way out anyway, have just started their term, and hope in the years pass it will not matter, and those like Mitt Romney, a constant critic.  Romney must understand that after his defeat in 2012 to President Obama, he will not get the nomination again, and this vote against Trump will lead to a major no from the Trump base.  The idea stated by the Minority Leader that Trump could face civil or federal trial, is interesting, CNN and the liberal press would love it, the public might see it as a major Witch Hunt, and President Biden will not his his predecessor placed in jail, once you start that, God knows how it might developed. A Republican Prosecutor might go after the son of the President, Hunter Biden, once you start that kind of process everyone gets hurt.    The blog was wrong, it thought that the Trump would turn up to take names of those that would vote against him, it can be speculated that the Republican leadership warned him that it could cost him votes.  Thus the future, it can be postulated that Trump will try to get the Republican nomination in 2024, he has a secure base to try, if someone is to challenge Trump, then they need the charisma and the money, thus blog is less impressed with those considering running. Four years is a long time in politics, either in the UK and the US.  Time will tell.

There is a question as to if Bolton was sacked or he resigned, the Trump Oval states he was fired, while Bolton has told the press he was sacked.   This must be the time that the VP and the US Cabinet consider the 25th Amendment, the removal of the POTUS, he is not fit to be President, he will be on his fourth National Security Adviser when he announces his new pick.  The Republican Party has to consider its future, not just 2020, Trump looks like a major LOSER in 2020, there must be a  respected and well know Republican who wants to challenge him, how about Senator Mitt Romney, it is worth a try, something must be done to protect the US from Trump.  From over the pond it seems that Trump is a major appeaser, from the Taliban to North Korea, what would Ronald Reagan say about the present Republican Party, he would not be happy it can be postulated, Trump is the new Neville Chamberlain.

The first impression one gets of Beto O'Rourke is that he reminds you of RFK, Bill Clinton or Barack Obama, that this could be 2008 ALL OVER AGAIN.  If your a West Wing fan you will recall Representative Santos vs. Senator Vinick.   The difference is that Beto, he has a catchy name, comes across as a hippie of the 21st Century, he keeps telling us his thought process and tells everyone on social media.   At former Vice - President Joe Biden does not pander like that, he just says sorry for his past mistakes when it comes to policy and his foot in the mouth problem.   Although Beto, it's easier to recall than Barack, LOST in his Texas Senate race, President Obama got elected to the US Senate, he did not spend that much time in the Senate as he was running for the Presidency, one doubts that President Obama could tell you where his Senate Office was, he was NEVER THERE, he was in Iowa or NH.   At the end of the day Beto LOST, also he has free wheeling style as stated in the article, he speeches come when he is talking, did not have a conventional campaign structure, you need that in a Presidential Campaign.   Also has he really be tested, and has his background been researched, you can be sure the Trump Campaign will do a tough research job.  One recalls at the start of the 21st Century that John Edwards was the darling of the US media, all over the magazines and TV news, we all know how that ended, Edwards being found out by the National Enquire.   That came after he was nominated to be to the VP to John Kerry who was running for President in 2004.  New candidates need to be tested or their failings will be found out, look at the Governor of Virginia, the Lt Governor and the Attorney General.  Uber liberal media, fall in love yes, but know who you are falling in love with.

This shows that President Trump is willing to overlook past critical views of him, and could be a good indicator that Governor Romney might be made Secretary of State.   The UN should expect a tougher Trump Administration, Russia will have a weary eye in New York if Romney is appointed as he sees Russia as the major threat to the US.   The new Administration will have to deal with the crisis that is Syria and the on going battle in Iraq to get Daesh out of Mosul.   The new Secretary of State and those appointed by Trump will have a lot of reading to do and to keep the international community happy.

THIS would be a shock move President Trump, neither men had a nice thing to say about each other in the 2016 Primary fight or afterwards, Romney lead attempts right up to the convention to get another nominee.   It would be a clear signal to Russia that US foreign policy would not be that easy after the kind words of Trump when it comes to Putin.  Governor Romney sees Russia as its enemy, he stated that in his debates with President Obama in 2012.   Of course the meeting could be a way for Trump to divert attention while he picks his White House team and Cabinet.

One has to wonder what is in the Trump taxes that Trump wants to keep secret, the fact that its Governor Romney making the attack does not help, in 2012 Romney lost big to President Obama.    The press should place pressure on the Donald to release his taxes, this has been done for decades by Presidential candidates.   The press should ask Mr Trump what he has to hide in his taxes, the elite liberal press should make this an issue every day, every time the Donald does an interview he should be asked, and asked again. IF HRC can release her returns then so can the Donald.

Thus those opposed to Trump, and this blog could be counted in that group will have to look at other ways of stopping the Trump Master, as noted in the UK Sunday Times the issue of Trump University seems like a good place to start, in essence peoples invested thousands in the hope of learning from the Donald how to be a good businessman, all they got for the thousands was a picture with a cardboard cut out of the Donald.   The Republican Establishment has to  go after the business dealings of the Donald.   The US voter must be forced to see that the Donald is a con man, that his many business ventures have failed and he does not suffer.    This could be the last chance to STOP the Donald.

This State of the Union speech is about 2016, the Oval Office knows that since VP Biden wont be the Democratic nominee he wants some influence with Hillary Clinton as the nominee.    FAT CHANCE, there will be only one ex President that gets the ear of Hillary Clinton if she is the nominee, yes the Big old dog himself, Bill Clinton, if the Clintons are in power President Obama can sing for supper or any influence with the Clintons, when you call someone a racist and its Bill Clinton expect political revenge served cold.   Also as stated as the economy returns the old left wing argument for taxes will have less power, the very success of the US economy could thwart the Obama Agenda.

It can be argued that either Bush or Romney could make it a good political fight against Hillary Clinton, all the candidates have a BRAND name, thus half the fight will not have to be fought, on the Republican side, Bush has the foundations of the Administrations of his father and brother, while Romney has been a candidate in 2008 and 2012.  On the Democratic side Hillary Clinton has her record as New York Senator and the US Secretary of State in the 1st Obama Administration.  Then there is her role for eight years and the First Lady of the US.   It does give the 2016 election the feel of a battle of political dynasties.   The question is WHO will WIN.

This move by the Oval Office will allow Republican Candidates to appeal to the right of the Party, they will be opposed to such a tax move, the idea has benefits and negatives for the Democrats, Hillary Clinton must make sure that she is seen to support the move, but not to close in case the idea goes down like a brick with the US VOTER.  In other words both sides will play Obama agenda for their own political agenda.   The tax idea itself is not going anywhere, the Republicans will not pass it and the Oval Office can not write it in to law.  This Obama trying to to tie the Democratic Nominee in 2016 to HIS agenda, and cause problems for the Republicans.   The Oval Office missed the mid term elections, the US voter has shown its opinion of the 2nd Obama term, and its not very good if your a Democrat.

In simple words this idea from POTUS on tax hikes is not going to happen, the Republicans now control the Senate and House, the Oval can not force tax hikes and it is not within his power to make then happen without Congressional authority.    This is POTUS playing to the left wing base of the Democratic Party, the Oval knows this is not going to happen, their radar can not be that faulty.   In the past the Oval could use the Senate to get its idea through, this is no longer an option, as the Republicans have retaken the House.    This is an ode to the left wing of the Democratic Party, nothing more that smoking mirrors.

The Romney camp could argue that Ronald Reagan ran three times for President and only won on the third attempt, and it is true that most Americans NOW think it was a mistake to elect President Obama for a 2nd term as President.   The problem is that Romney is NO Reagan, with the best will in the world.   The liberal elite would use the same playbook they used on 2012 on any Romney attempt in 2016, he is too rich, he is not interested in main street, that only Democrats can protect the Middle Class.   Of course there are differences for Democrats, President Obama will not be on the ticket, it could be Hillary Clinton, and her famous remark that the Clintons left office broke.   In pure political terms, the best candidate for the Republicans is Jeb Bush, he is for immigration, wants a smaller government and supports lower taxes.    The Democrats on the whole it can be expected will nominate Hillary Clinton.   Thus a re - match of 1992.

The speech was good folks, simple, direct, from the heart, it made Governor Mitt Romney human, dealt with the problems the family had in the past, Ann Romney has had to deal with MS and breast cancer, how Romney made his money. The Speech should bring some bounce in the polls for the Romney/Ryan ticket. The big test is Thursday when Romney takes the stage, he is not as charismatic as Reagan or has the folksy manner of Bush 43, thus Romney should play to his basic points, good at business, a family man, a citizen politician, the man who saved the winter Olympics, the US voter has seen the Obama charisma, thus they might want a professional but boring kind of President. The last thing Romney should do is to try and out charisma Obama, it wont work, for all his faults POTUS is great at making speeches. Lets see what Thursday brings folks.

The Ryan Effect and the Polls - 2012 Race

Thus folks if you take in to account the margin of error ( MofE ) we have a tied race, the Ryan choice has not hurt Romney, in fact it secures the base for November, also in a ironic way it forces the Obama Campaign to deal with real issues. The past few months have dealt with Romney's time in private business, his tax returns, the choice of Ryan forces the Democrats to deal with domestic issues, that might be the one area that the Democrats do not want to discuss, as this brings in Obama's failed economic record, and the introduction of ObamaCare as a TAX. Lets see if Ryan can be an attack dog, the Romney Campaign needs to take the Oval on head on, is Ryan the man, his speech at his introduction shows that he is willing to take on Obama, lets see if that fighting spirits lasts, it is early days folks.

Paul Ryan - A True Conservative

This blog is impressed with the choice of Rep. Paul Ryan as Romney's VP choice, he is young, has charisma in spades, but more important he is a true Conservative. Also in election terms he could be the next Reagan, saying the harsh truth but in way that does not frighten the VOTER. The speech given by Ryan was good on attacking President Obama, there was a good line that Obama has bought Debt, Doubt and Despair to the US. A D Grade for Obama in other words. The Democratic spin is that they wanted Romney to pick Ryan as he is an economic hawk, the Democrats wanted the Republicans to choose Reagan in 1980, that shows you should be careful what you wish for, NOW the Obama Camp has to deal with policy, it has gotten away with personal attacks on Romney, it NOW has to deal with policy, that is the one area that POTUS might wish to avoid, he has been a disaster on the domestic side. Lets see how Ryan does on the Campaign trail, Romney needs an attack dog, someone who will go for the throat of the Democrats, lets see how he does over the next few months.

This is a great advert by a Republican Super Pac, lets remind the voters that Obama is Chicago Pol, they play dirty, they play to win, they and Richard Nixon have a lot in common. If they can not win by fair means then its foul all the way. That is the thing with Chicago Pols, some look clean but when you wash away the PR, their souls are suspect, you do not get far in Chicago politics if your a Saint, a Saint would be buried six feed under in Chicago.
