Lets Get Real:

I think it is safe to say that hope is over, it looks like the Titan imploded on the way down to the Titanic.  The US Coast Guard will give a press conference at 8pm UK time.  Our thoughts and prays are with those lost and their families.  There will be future dives to the Titanic, its the Titanic after all.  There needs to be a legal code for future Sub divas, the subs have to reach certain industry standards.   In 1898 a fiction book was published about the largest passenger liner going down after hitting an iceberg.  The Titanic was sunk by a iceberg in 1912, it was finally found in 1985, 73 years later.  The name of the Ship in the fiction book was Titan, the Gods only give one warning, us humans never listen.  This blog will be honest, if offered a trip down to the Titanic it would go, its the Titanic after all.

Lets Get Real:

The Titan has about 20 hours of oxygen left, the noises could be from the Titanic itself its rusty down there and it is being eaten by deep sea creatures.  It is estimated that the air on the Titan will run out at 9.00am UK time ( Updated from Sky News - 12.08pm, ) of course one hopes for the best and that the crew and passengers are alive and well.  That is the hope, after 9am ( 12.08pm ) tomorrow the clock will start to look at how long it is a rescue mission and then a recovery mission to to get the Titan up and those that might have perished.  Of course keeping hope, but the Titan sub might never be found, it might take years, there will be other dives on the Titanic, they might find it, then what!! One prays for the passengers and crew of the sub and their families, but one has to be real.

Lets Get Real:

One still has hope that the Titan will be found with the passengers and crew safe.  The tone of the coverage has moved to the more realistic, they sub has only 41 hours of air left, and finding it will be down to luck, also how do they bring it up, what I DO NOT want to hear from the Americans is the term unified command, it shows that the Americans want to someone else to get the blame if this turns in to a tragedy.  One has to say it, it does not look good, and what point to the various ships just give up, if the passengers and crew run out of air, do the ships stay, its costs to have the ships out there, does the UN ban any more trips, in less for science or to pick up the artefacts still out there, does the UN have that authority is a open question, and who would enforce it.   This blog hopes for the best, but one must always tell truth in this blog, it looks like you can add 5 more to the Titanic death ledger.

One can pray that the Sub is found safely with the crew and passengers on board, but one has to think of a tragic outcome, the Titanic is three miles down and it almost a norm of people visiting the Wreck after it was found in the 1980s and the Box Office smash film of the same name.   That it has become the norm, is the problem, its a burial site after all, some things are best left alone.  If a tragedy has occurred it is  a remainder of the myth of the Titanic, a ship that could not sink and was sank by an iceberg in 1912, 1,500 lives lost to the ice waters of the Atlantic.

The Conservative Party is toast, this is like 1992 all over again, when Sir John Major's Government lost its economic control, then came 1997 and the placing of Tony Blair in 10 Downing Street.  The sorry excuse for a Government has two years before the next election, one can expect that Truss will be replaced, it will look like a farce, the Conservatives need a few years in Opposition, that will get rid of former Ministers and those who just like to rebel.  The new leader after 2024 needs to get a new Chief Whip in, someone who really scares MP's and gets them under control and understand they are not there because of their name or charisma, or lack of charisma, they are there because they have the Conservative symbol by their name.  The Conservatives in Opposition have to work out what they are for and against when it comes to the economy and stick to their agenda.  They also need to scrap the 1922 Committee, it has became far to powerful, it needs a new makeover, also the new Committee has to make sure its rules cannot be changed, ALL Governments in power for years start to lose support, you will always have MPs who are scared, they have to re - learn they are cannon fodder for voting, the top leads while the MPs follow orders.

The Russians have Joe Biden's number, will POTUS know stop giving weapons and arms to the Kiev Government, he is frighten OLD MAN, he has not allowed Poland to sent their old Russian fighter jets to the US and for the Ukraine Pilots to pick them up from Germany, POTUS is afraid that Putin will not be happy with him.  It takes leadership to LEAD in a CRISIS, and the Ukraine Crisis shows that Biden has and shall always be WRONG when it comes to foreign policy.  Is the WEST going to allow Putin to destroy the Ukraine and then absorb it in to Russia.  The Russian aims are clear, they want to go back to 1997, they want to have influence over Eastern Europe, they want the Ukraine back in Russia and that goes for the BALTIC STATES also.  Thus Putin has to be stopped in the Ukraine, he has to lose and seen to lose, that might get the Russian people on the streets to demonstrate AGAINST the Putin Regime. 

The FAILURE of the UN - Ukraine Crisis

The UN is not the place to solve a international crisis, its the place to go through the motions, show that you have tried, the Kremlin wants NATO to say that the Ukraine will never join NATO and NATO troops in Eastern European States in NATO will have them removed.  The Kremlin wants to go back to pre 1997, they want to influence EASTERN EUROPE.  The Russian Demands cannot be met by the West, it would destroy NATO.  Thus this crisis can end in two ways, the Kremlin under Putin tucks its tail behind its legs and returns troops to their bases or they invade.  The placement of around one hundred and thirty thousand troops, air and navy personnel means that it looks like WAR.  It just a matter of waiting for the land to get hard on the border for the Russians tanks to MOVE.  One hopes the Ukraine people will FIGHT unlike the people of Afghanistan, and that the West will support any insurgence against Russia, like Afghanistan after 1979.

This will WARN Putin that any attack on NATO Countries will LEAD to WW3, the problem is not that, Putin is not that far gone, well one hopes, the problem is the Ukraine, one can expect that Putin will invade after the West gives its formal NO to Russian demands, that the Ukraine never joins NATO and that NATO troops are removed from East Europe States in NATO.  The Russian firepower, land and sea is for a quick kill, that is brutal but that what Putin wants, he wants to absorb the Ukraine back in to the Russia, he wants the OLD USSR back, for that to work Putin will have to go after the BALTIC STATES and Poland.  The Biden Oval does not have the guts to send US troops in to Ukraine, that would really STOP PUTIN in his tracks, what he can do is make so that any Ukraine insurgence is supported by the West, Biden can make Russia bleed, as Reagan did in supporting the insurgence in Afghanistan after 1981.  Thus there are more diplomacy, the UK Defence Secretary will visit Moscow, one hopes that the Russians have the courtesy not to invade the Ukraine if the Defence Minister is in town.  Thus after the formal reply from the West and the departure of the UK Minister one can expect a quick strike, the question is will the Ukraine fight, one saw what happened in Afghanistan, one's hopes are really with the Ukraine Army and people.

At last a power is doing something, small fry in the big picture, but it sends a message to the KREMLIN, the UK is NOW on the ground, the Russians would never dare strike UK Forces, as this would bring in NATO. The UK could not send tanks are they are not working at the moment!  The new German Foreign Minister is going to the Kremlin today, let's hope that Germany keeps to the Western line, that it will not say NO to the Ukraine becoming part of NATO and it will not withdraw NATO troops and equipment from Eastern Europe States that have joined NATO since 1997.  The Russians have blocked themselves in, the West has offered talks on other aspects but the Russian are not biting.  After the West gives its formal reply, what will Russia do, invade or do more diplomacy, that is open to question.

This confirms that the talks between the US and Russia was a sideshow for the Russians, they want to tell their people that they tried their hardest and what follows, whatever that is, can only be the FAULT of the West.  Putin has made it clear that the fall of the USSR was the greatest tragedy of the 20th Century, he seems to have forgotten World War 1 and 2, the holocaust of the Jews.  Mr KGB is playing a foolish game, he could drag the WORLD close to World War 3, it would not take much, a missile on the Russian side going wrong and hitting a NATO Country, the Russians making it clear that any help from the West to the Kiev Government will be seen as a ACT OF WAR, the US is already supplying Kiev with small arms and other equipment.  There could be hundred of thousands of Ukraine refuges should WAR break out and they will be heading to NATO/EU Countries.  The Biden Oval cannot be seen to appease Putin after Afghanistan, he does not want another Munich 1938 and POTUS being cast as the new Neville Chamberlain.  This developing crisis point is heading in one direction, the invasion of Ukraine and the risk of a general WAR in Europe.

The left wing media are going to be all over this folks, they will forget Bill Clinton, they always do if it’s a Democrat, so far the Cain Campaign has rejected the allegation, but the Candidate has to come out with a straight refusal. Lets look at the PR of this folks, it always hurts Republicans, either Cain has to say its not true at all and he cant be proven not to be telling the truth, or if there are any embers in the story he has to get it all out and hope the US voter is following the Clinton example of 1997, its what the politicians does on the job that counts not her personal life. Lets be honest JFK would not have gotten close to the Oval in 1960 if his personal life had come out, even now JFK would have a hard time, the press of yesterday might have covered for him, not today, go ask former Senator Edwards about sex scandals. The winner will be Governor Romney folks, so straight as to be boring, this might give a chance for Perry to come back, we shall see folks, Iowa is getting close, nearly eight weeks to go folks.

The Hill: Reports that both House and Senate Democratic Leaders are furious with the White House over its tax deal with the Republicans. This is the best news President Obama has had since winning the Presidency, the more the left go over the cliff the more Obama looks like a moderate when compared to extreme Liberals like Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. As in essence the tax deal keeps the tax levels as set by Bush 43 and cuts other taxes, the Republicans and Moderates on the whole approve the deal, also by the extension of unemployment cash for an extra 13 months the Republicans take the NASTY image way from the Party, think how the nasty image hurt the Conservative Party after 1997 election, out of power for 13 years. Even David Cameron by 2010 could not totally change that image, thus the present Coalition Government. Thus this is a win for Obama when it comes 2012 and for the Republican Leadership on the Hill when it comes to the Congressional Elections of 2012.

On the Bookstand Tonight

Have just got my copy of Tony Blair’s autobiography, just read the first chapter, have to admit am impressed, it seems our Mr Blair is self aware and funny, one thing that struck me on reading the first chapter is how honest Mr Blair is being, how after the 1997 election while every else was going off the deep end in celebration Mr Blair realised that this was a major new stage in his career. Mr Blair admits that he was afraid when he entered Downing Street for the firs time as PM. This is just the first chapter folks, but looks good, just this quick review as I have not seen this mentioned in other comments on the book. One can see why it will be a major bestseller, it seems that the Dark Prince Lord Mandelson will have a good fight on his hands in the books charts.

Guardian Exclusive - Blair on Brown = Disaster

Guardian: Reports on its exclusive interview with the former Labour PM Tony Blair, the former PM states that he knew that Mr Brown would be a disaster as PM due to his flawed character and his selling out of New Labour. One can hear the muffled cries of NO from ex Labour PM Gordon Brown in Scotland tonight, so far he has been stabbed in the back by Lord Mandelson and in the front by Tony Blair. One has to wonder how New Labour ever won three elections, the London Media must have been asleep at the wheel to allow these flawed characters to gain power. The memoirs of Tony Blair will really focus the mind of Labour members, do they support the heir of Tony Blair in the shape of David Miliband or do they go down the Gordon Brown route with Ed Miliband, the old New Labour founders are not going down without a fight, my money is on Blair and Mandelson.

BBC News: Reports on a not so veiled attack by Lord Mandelson on Ed Miliband, a contender for the Labour Leadership, the Dark Prince stated that in essence that Ed Miliband would be a disaster for Labour as he wants to take it back to a pre New Labour age, in other words higher taxes and Union power. It is surprising that the Dark Prince has take so long to get in to the fight, this blog of late has been on the attack when it comes to Ed Miliband, what ever you think of the Blair/Brown age they did bring Labour in to power and the winning of three elections. The election of Ed Miliband would be a disaster for Labour, it would show that New Labour was a fake, once Labour was out of power and not in the running for power it returned to its comfort zone, a extreme left wing Party, of higher taxes and giving the Unions the power to bring the Country to a stand still. If you support and want a Labour Government in the future support David Miliband, otherwise expect years in Opposition.

Mandelson Memoirs = Bestseller

Guardian: Reports that the memoirs of Lord Peter Mandelson have become a bestseller. It’s a great book, a real page turner, shows the bitter feuding at the heart of the New Labour Project, how Gordon Brown never got over the fact that Tony Blair become Labour Leader rather than him, how Brown felt betrayed by Mandelson, how they feuded pre the 1997 election. The constant feuding between Blair and Brown, now Brown thought Blair had gone back on his word not to serve a third term in 10 Downing Street. How when Brown bought Mandelson back the Dark Prince spent him time keeping Brown in power, also how Brown refused to listen for the need to tell the voters that there would be cuts under Labour. Lord Mandelson help create New Labour, in many respects he has buried New Labour, what we create we destroy in the end folks.

The first complete volume is great, it’s a page turner, also recalls some political incidents that over time this political blog had forgotten about, those days pre 9/11 seems like a different country, a different time, what is so great is that Mr Campbell is not afraid to show himself in a bad light, his views on Education and the right of parents to decide what is in the best interest of their children is out of Tony Benn book of old Labour. On the other hand you have to be sympathetic when the constant backbiting that AC faced from GB,PM, the fact that TB on occasions does not get the fact that he is in the Labour Party. They you have the Scottish Wars between Brown and Cook and JP feeling that he is on the outside always being told last what the policy is at any given time. The Daily Mail: Reports on remarks by Lord Peter Mandelson on his book and the Labour Party, Lord Mandelson has stated that his book is flattering about ex PM’s Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. NO, NO NO, Lord Mandelson, it’s the truth about New Labour but its not flattering, it shows a bunch of egomaniacs that you would not allow to take your dog for a walk, with the Mandelson memoir and the Campbell Diaries you have Gordon Brown brooding and plotting over the succession of Tony Blair between 1994 - 2007, Tony Blair never really standing up to Gordon Brown, guilty about taking the PRIZE from him, then you have Peter Mandelson and Gordon Brown at daggers drawn, the Deputy Leader John Prescott not being kept informed, then you have internal Scottish Wars between Gordon Brown and the late Robin Cook. But this is the important point folks the Memoir of Lord Mandelson is a page turner as in the Alastair Campbell Diaries, lets hope Tony Blair has taken this in account for his book, you have to want to turn the page, lets recall this blog is quite Conservative.

Gordon Brown = Lord Byron and a Mafia Don ?

Guardian: Reports on more revelations form the Dark Prince Lord Mandelson, the Guardian reports that the ex UK PM Tony Blair stated that his successor was mad, bad etc, but it can be postulated without the writing qualities of Lord Byron and the threatening manner of a Mafia Don, didn’t hear about any horses head in 10 Downing Street. Have to admit this does sound over the top even for New Labour, but on other hand can you see Lady Thatcher putting up with Gordon Brown for a day never mind 10 years. This blog is still waiting to hear why Tony Blair didn’t sack Gordon Brown when he had the chance in 2005, yes Brown would have caused massive problems on the backbenches but at lest it would have been Blair ‘s Government, was Mr Blair afraid that he would share the same fate as Lady Thatcher when she got rid of her opposition. How New Labour every won three elections will be mystery to this blog for many a year, on the whole a bunch of ego maniacs with no self discipline and then there is the Iraq War, what more can you say about New Labour.

Tony Blair to Gordon Brown = YOUR OUT

Telegraph: Reports on more revelations form the memoirs of Lord Mandelson, PM Gordon Brown was told by ex PM Tony Blair that he would have to give up 10 Downing Street. There was no way these days that Gordon Brown could have kept the keys of 10 Downing Street, the tribal politicians of Labour had their mugs on TV saying that this was a chance for centre left alliance between the Lib Dems and Labour. The price would have been keeping Gordon Brown in power for a while, it should be recalled that the Labour result was the worse in living memory, even worse that 1983. At the end of the day the grow ups in Labour told the bunkers around Gordon Brown that Labour had lost they had to go, also the Lib Dems went with the Conservative Party. In 1997 the new Labour PM Tony Blair wanted to deal with the Lib Dems but the massive majority prevent such a deal, it was to late in 2010.
