It's a Stitch Up Against Boris - The Conservative Leadership Contest is FIXED - After Brexit

Lets Get Real:

The 1922 Committee is trying to stitch up the contest as to allow the former Chancellor, Sunak to get the leadership.  This is very un - democratic and shows why the Conservative Party needs a few years in Opposition, after they lose it can be postulated that Boris will come back, let's face it, being His Majesty's Opposition Leader is the worst job in UK politics, that is one of the reasons that Sir Keir is going on and on about an election.  The Conservatives might have LOST THE PLOT, but they are not mad, they will never go for an election, it would finish them with the Conservative Party and they can forget getting a peerage after they lose their SEAT.  If the Conservative MPs chose Rishi Sunak this blog will no longer support the Conservative Party, he backstabbed Boris and caused this FARCE, but that is the likely outcome, the choice will not be popular with the Party members as they will get cut out of the process of electing a new Leader and let's recall the political fallout from Mrs Sunak having non dom status and that her husband was also fined with Boris over Partygate.  It can be said that a Political Party can have to long in OFFICE, out of Government the Conservative Party can reform and get back its soul.  

New Chancellor DITCHES Truss Budget - Liz Truss Era/After Boris

Lets Get Real:

The Conservative Party is toast, this is like 1992 all over again, when Sir John Major's Government lost its economic control, then came 1997 and the placing of Tony Blair in 10 Downing Street.  The sorry excuse for a Government has two years before the next election, one can expect that Truss will be replaced, it will look like a farce, the Conservatives need a few years in Opposition, that will get rid of former Ministers and those who just like to rebel.  The new leader after 2024 needs to get a new Chief Whip in, someone who really scares MP's and gets them under control and understand they are not there because of their name or charisma, or lack of charisma, they are there because they have the Conservative symbol by their name.  The Conservatives in Opposition have to work out what they are for and against when it comes to the economy and stick to their agenda.  They also need to scrap the 1922 Committee, it has became far to powerful, it needs a new makeover, also the new Committee has to make sure its rules cannot be changed, ALL Governments in power for years start to lose support, you will always have MPs who are scared, they have to re - learn they are cannon fodder for voting, the top leads while the MPs follow orders. 

Drum Roll ..... Liz Truss is the new UK PM - After Boris/After Brexit

Lets Get Real:

Thus the non breaking news that Liz Truss has won the Conservative Party leadership, that has been on the cards for WEEKS, this blog even got bored with it, Liz Truss is the deserved winner, she did not stab Boris in the back, unlike Rishi Sunak.  The newish Conservative Government can start with TAX CUTS, and getting rid of the Sunak TAX HIKES, also massive spending to help with the cost of living, in other words the high rate of inflation and the gas hikes due to the WAR in Russia.  PM Truss will have to stand up to the the EU and Russia, it has been reported that the new PM will invoke Article 16 with the EU, while pushing through the Northern Ireland Protocol Bill, while with Russia, the PM should make a visit to KYIV.  It is going to be a tough couple of months on the economic side, even if Conservative MPs become difficult they cannot throw out another PM, they are stuck with PM Truss, they are going to miss PM Boris. 

The RULES for the Conservative Leadership Contest - After Brexit/Boris

BBC News - Live Blog: Reports in its 7.43pm post the following, " Candidates standing in the Tory leadership race will need at least 20 supporters to get on the leadership vote ballot...nominations will open and close on Tuesday....MPs will conduct the first round of voting on Wednesday.  "

Lets Get Real:

This will cut down the number of candidates, some might find it a struggle to get to 20.  One can presume that the former Chancellor Sunak and the Foreign Secretary Truss will get through, but the rest, well depends who the MPs want to tie to their futures too.   As noted in my previous post the political knifes have come out already, it is reported that some campaign's have give the Labour Party dossiers in attempt to smear fellow campaigns.  Tuesday is going to be interesting, who gets through and what do the candidates who can not hit 20 nominations give their support to on Wednesday.  This blog is going to predict it will be the Foreign Secretary who finally gets the nod, of course this blog could be very WRONG, it happens. Keep your eyes on the news channels, they will get the results faster that print media. 

1922 Committee Rules for the Conservative Leadership - After Brexit/Boris

Sky News - Live Blog: Reports in its 5.24pm post the following, " "The new 1922 Committee executive has some important decisions to make, first of all obviously the timetable for the leadership election......"What we expect is nominations opening tomorrow, probably first ballot Wednesday and perhaps another round on Thursday...."What the '22 executive is likely to do is [change] the number of nominations you need – at the moment it's just eight.  "

Lets Get Real:

As of NOW there are 11 candidates, it could go up one if the Home Secretary jumps in to the race.  The political knives are already out, ALLEGATIONS are being thrown about the various candidates, affairs, sexual deviance, personal finance and if people have paid their taxes in the UK.  The 1922 Committee needs a quick and fast contest, the number of nominations that a candidate needs should go up from 8 or even 36 it has been reported.  That will get rid of those candidates you have NEVER heard off, and those that even Conservative MPs do not know that well.  Then the race should be over by next week after various rounds, with the last candidate being out, in till we get to the final two and the vote by the Conservative members.  The favourite in the former Chancellor, but how will his tax increase go down with the members, then final candidate should be a FIRM BREXIT supporter, the Foreign Secretary is the most well known, but voted REMAIN in 2016, that could be a problem.  The fun has started. 

Caretaker PM Boris says no new Policies while Conservatives have Leadership Contest - After Brexit

Lets Get Real:

Thus we wait the elections for the 1922 Committee and their revised rules for the Conservative Leadership contest, the process needs a faster end, the Country cannot wait for three months for the Conservative MPs and members to decide who to support.  The Candidates should need over 10 MPs to support their candidacy and that the rounds should take place over two weeks.  Those that are running better start fast, the Foreign Secretary was out of the Country and has had to rush home as she is expected to stand.   The the final two candidates campaign should not take 6 weeks, general elections do not take that long ( thank God ), the contest should last about 3/4 weeks and then the members vote.  Of course it would be simpler if the candidate will less support on the backbenches was to step aside, and thus allow one MP to become PM.  Of course the members would feel cheated, and also you want to see how the candidates behave during tough press interviews and their view on the Northern Ireland Protocol and Brexit.   Thus fun democracy starts on Monday with the  1922 Committee elections and the format for the contest. 

PM Boris OUT as Conservative Leader but not PM - After Brexit

Lets Get Real:

Thus PM Boris Johnson is OUT as Conservative Leader, Boris made it clear who he blames, the heard mentality of Conservative MPs, also he is staying on as PM while the Party chooses another leader and PM.  The Conservative MPs have got what they wanted, let's hope they do not live to regret this, the ousting of Lady Thatcher left a hard taste of bitterness, as the Lady herself said, betrayal with a smile on its face.  The Conservative MPs cannot force the PM out, there always has to a be a PM, the PM is getting new people in to take seats in the Cabinet and the junior ranks, its better to be in office and running, than out of office, let's recall the PM Boris might have fallen by the wayside, but there still important issues, the cost of living crisis, the need for tax cuts, the aftermath of Covid - 19 and the on going WAR in the Ukraine.  There needs to be a VERY QUICK election, thus the 1922 Committee has elections for its posts on Monday, it also had to create a structure for the leadership contest. There will be numerous runner and riders, we need a stable hand, a Brexit PM or a reformed remainer.  The election should not take months, the election rounds should take the next two weeks, and then the membership should vote on the last two Candidates standing.
