Lets Get Real:

The UK should be careful about getting to a arms contest with the Russians,  the Syrian mess is complex, you have Russians planes with Syrian planes hitting any rebel that is a threat to Assad, while the US and its allies are hitting Daesh targets, while supporting moderate in Syria.   What happens if moderate rebels supported by the US are attacked and the US air force is close by, do they watch, do they send a warning to the Russian planes, do they take action.   The blog is very much a hawk, but one should always see what the next step is, it only takes a drunk Russian with missiles to shoot down a Western plane, then you have  a crisis, that even President Obama can not waffle out of.   The Syrian policy needs caution.

Lets Get Real:

The manner of how the Russians told the US about the strikes is an example  their low opinion of President Obama, a Russian General turned up at the Embassy in Baghdad and informed the US that they should keep out of Syrian air space as they would be attacking within a hour.   The Russians after the fall of the USSR are looking to gain the old place of the USSR in the international community, and Putin is a dictator, thus he is trying to force the West to support Assad against Daesh and his other enemies, the West has make it clear that they see no future for Assad in power after peace talks.    The Russian moves in Crimea, East Ukraine and now Syria see Putin placing bets that Obama will never react, he has shown total non understanding of the Middle East, he has made a BAD deal with Iran, and the US allies are not happy.   The question is will Syria be the modern Iraq for the Russians.

IF Russia is taking out Western supported rebels then the US HAS to act, Obama can not afford for another red line to be passed, the Russians are betting, and its a good bet that Obama does not have the steel in in his character to accept that he has been totally wrong about Syria since the start and he has to do something.   The Putin's Russia wants to make sure that Assad remains in power, that they keep their warm water port and that the West sees Russia as a counter balance to the US.  One can predict that Obama will do NOTHING, he does not have the nerve to take on Russia, thus another win for Putin and Assad.

The Russian action in Syria is another complication, there are echoes of Afghanistan in this move, also if the US is right the the Russians are hitting Western trained forces, in other words the Russians are building up the Assad Regime by taking out his enemies one at time, the Western rebels are first, then followed by Daesh, the end result will be that Russian ground forces will be needed to back up the air attacks, that means Russian body bags, will the Russian people put up with that, the disaster of Afghanistan helped bring down the USSR.    The Putin Regime has hidden body bags from East Ukraine, Syria would be a different matter, what if IS catches a Russian Soldier and makes it public, how far will the Russian people support their President when Daesh has a history of violence against enemies.   It is easy to get in to  War, not so much to get out, we shall see with Russia in Syria. 

New Policy towards Syria - Syrian Crisis

Lets Get Real:

The Russians want to keep Assad in power, the West is more concerned with defeating Daesh at the moment, thus both Russia and the US and its allies have a common enemy, the Western allies will accept that Assad or his regime will remain in power, the Russians want to keep their only warm water port.   The Russians have moved in tanks, and aircraft to defend the Assad position, if the Russians are going to do this anyway the West might as well take the offer up to combine forces to get rid of Daesh.    The problem of Assad will have to be dealt with but it can wait, if and when Daesh is removed the West can place pressure on Assad to have a stable Country, thus the return of refugees.   These developments will take time, the defeat of Daesh has to be the number one aim for the West, the rest can wait.

At leas the UK is on the same page as the US when it comes to drone strikes, the UK has been far to slow to use drones for this kind of clean up operation.   The Daesh Terrorists once they joined Daesh lose ALL their rights, they butchers and the lowest of the low, the left it seems is more concerned about the rights of terrorists than the right of the people of the UK to be defended agaisnt terrorist threats.    The UK and the US needs Special Forces in Syria to take the fight to Daesh, they are a major threat to the region and the World.

The Conservative Government should keep to its guns or drones, there are terrorist threats out there, the UK has the right to defend the realm, these terrorists do not care about the law, the actions of Daesh has shown they are scum, and deserve no 2nd look at their cases. The Drones should be up 24/7 and armed, in this way British personnel are safe and ends do justify the means, no British Forces come under threat.   The left has lost the plot.

The left in UK politics, Labour, SNP and the BBC News seem to want to stress that these UK Daesh terrorists had some kind of rights, they did not , they were terrorists who needed to be removed.   This blog will take the word of the UK PM over any human right concerns of the left.   The main job of any UK Government is to defend the realm, this is what the new Conservative government has done. The BBC should remember that it is the British Broadcasting Service, not Daesh.   The British people decided who they trusted at the General Election and it was not the left.

At some point the West will have to send in ground troops to take out Daesh, they are a threat to the civic and physical structure of the Middle East.   Daesh (IS) fighters have no concern about modern values of the West.   How many men, women, and children have to be killed by Daesh before the West gets its head out of the sand and does something that will lead to the destruction of Daesh.   Time to ACT is now, later might be to late for many people and buildings in Syria and Iraq.

WHY, WHY, the terror of Daesh has been shown to the World and the World still does not place Western troops in Iraq and Syria to get rid of this vile terrorist group.    They are the lowest of the low,  they require either to be tried for their crimes or killed off, the fight will take years and it depends who is in the Oval Office.   Thus US voters, do you want the US respected, feared when it has to be, then elect a President who is tough, will do what has to be done, lets hope the successor to Obama is more in the shape of Reagan than Obama.

This is an excellent development, the US and Turkey can now have a grown up strategy to deal with IS, the worry is that Turkey will go after the Kurds for internal Turkish reasons.   The US should offer to guard the buffer zone, this should ease the worries of the Kurds and also allow the US to place ground troops IN Syria to fight IS.   This is going to be a long WAR, the above development allows for a full strategy to deal with Daesh in Syria and Iraq.

The US should now be able  to hit Daesh hard, the War on Daesh has gone off the news of late, the US needs to consider the sending of ground troops, that is the only way to bring down Daesh.   The US and the UK should use its special forces to undermine Daesh, the War in Syria is messy, you have Assad supported by Iran and Russia, then you have various Islamic groups, which includes Daesh, then you have the forces that are being developed by the West to fight Daesh, this is going very slow, its time to get going, the next US President will have to deal with the mess that Obama has left in the region, the Oval Office could help by rethinking its only air policy, it will not work and risks the shooting down of a pilot.  The Obama Administration has to take the War in Syria and Iraq and develop a good strategy, so far not great on that front.   Lets hope the above helps.

This blog could care less if the feelings of backbench MPs are hurt that they were not informed that British pilots joined their allies in attacks on Daesh, the threat from Daesh in Syria and Iraq is only growing, the West has to attack the threat from its source otherwise Daesh will become another Al Qaeda, the West does not want another 9/11 or 7/7 or recent attacks on Westerns on holiday in Tunisia.    Thus time for House of Commons to grow up and listen to the PM and his Cabinet. 

RAF Pilots strike IS in Syria - Daesh Crisis

The UK government was sneaky to place our pilots with other Countries to get around Parliament, but it was for the right reason, the UK has to hit Daesh targets in Syria and Iraq.   The House of Commons should have a vote on this subject and revoke the bad decision they made before, the UK has to be a FULL partner with the US and other allies.  Lets  hope our pilots are safe and return to the UK.

The West has to take the fight to IS, the lack of ground action has allowed IS to grow and become threat to Syria, Iraq and the whole Middle East and Europe.  The evil that is IS has to be taken down, this means at the end of the day that there needs to be Western ground troops in the Middle East.   The IS individuals and groups could strike anywhere at any time, thus Western security has to be on a high states of readiness, but that can not be held at that level forever.   The cancer that is Islamic State has to be removed, or else it will grown and the death tolls will grow, time for the West to man up and take down IS and its groups.

Lets Get Real:

This is good news from the Syrian front when it comes to IS, the Kurds with the help of US air forces are gaining ground once held by IS, it is a slow operation but with air cover the Kurds have the best chance of removing IS as a threat from Syria.    The West and Kurds on on one side and Assad and Iran/Russia on the other should be able over time to kill IS and remove a threat from the Middle East and Europe.   Although this is a victory, the West air forces should move to allow the Kurds to remove IS, thus the need for on ground forces to tell the pilots what to hit and when, but on the whole good news. 

Obama and his Legacy - 2nd Term Blues

The New York Times: Reports on the failure of President Obama to get the Trans Pacific Partners trade deal through the House of Representatives, the article notes the following, " As it turned out, the biggest challenge to securing that legacy has been at home, and not overseas, as Mr. Obama’s fellow Democrats  ..." refused to support President Obama with their votes in the House. 

Lets Get Real:

This happens to ALL 2nd term Presidents, they find the power they once had on the Hill has gone,  the full House and part of the Senate are up for re-election, thus they have to get money in their campaigns, the Unions are against TPP as they see the deal as a job killer.   Thus President Obama will have tough time over the next year and half getting his agenda through Congress.    The Democratic nominee for President will have to careful, they need the support of the Oval Office but they do not want to be seen as a third term for Obama,  it is interesting that Hillary Clinton is using the campaign book for Obama this time, but HRC is no Obama, she is not that good on the campaign trail.      It can be argued that the HRC campaign is fighting the last campaign not the new one in 2016.    Of course there is the problem of Iraq, Syria, Libya and Afghanistan, the next President will have the same problem as Obama found in 2009, it can be postulated that the US will have thousands of troops in Iraq to deal with IS, the war in Syria will be on going, the disaster of Libya might haunt HRC as she supported the removal of Gaddafi, and then we have Afghanistan, the US will need to keep troops there for years, so the new President will not have a rosy time.

Thus we are seeing the same mistake that the US did in the 2003 invasion of Iraq, this gradual approach will not work when fighting ISs, they have proven they are ruthless and smart, they used the natural elements of  a sandstorm over Ramadi to push into the town and take it right under the eyes of the US.   The US should send in ten thousand troops in to Iraq to fight IS, not just train the new Iraqi Army.     The new Iraqi Army will bolt when they come under pressure from IS, as has been seen IS kills any threat, there is no Geneva Convention for IS.   The US will  only get the support of Sunni soldiers when it places US troops at the side of Sunni Soldiers.    The Oval is trying to thrown the problem down the road, as noted by this blog, history does not take orders from leaders.

The political Gods are tough SOB's, when they pay you back for your folly it comes back to what made you famous the first time, in the case of President Obama it was Iraq, now he is sending troops back in to Iraq, the Democrats recall that is how Vietnam started, and if it grows to more troops Democrats  are worried that they will have to defend the policy in 2020, also HRC will have to support the policy, she was Obama's first Secretary of State, thus the decision to remove troops in 2011 happened on her watch.   The Democrats are right to be concerned, is Iraq fated to become another Vietnam.
