MOD: Has announced the name of the UK Soldier that was killed on Friday in Afghanistan, the Soldier was “ Corporal Michael John Pike from The Highlanders, 4th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland (4 SCOTS) ”. Our thoughts are with the family of Corporal Pike.

John Edwards Indicted = Hero to Zero

CNN: Reports that former Senator, VP Nominee in 2004 and Presidential Candidate in 2008 John Edwards has been indicted on campaign violations that include giving money to his mistress while running for President. It will be interesting to see how the liberal media deal with this case, before President Obama, Edwards was the golden boy of the American left. That it was not the New York or LA Times that broke this story tells you how out of touch these papers are, if Edwards had been a Republican you can bet your last dollar they would have been all over the story. That Edwards wife Elizabeth was ill and would later die while the scandal broke should if Edwards is found guilty add a few more years to his prison sentence. On the whole this blog does not make personal moral judgements, but Edwards is 1st class creep, he deserves time in jail for what he did to his heroic wife.

US Unemployment = 9.1%

Guardian: Reports that unemployment in the US rose from 9% to 9.1%. As wise campaign manager once stated its “ the economy stupid ” in other words it does not how much the main stream media cover for President Obama the people on main street know that Obama’s economic policies are not working, his vast spending in the first two years has not created jobs or bought down the health costs. The only idea to come out of the Oval is to raise taxes, typical tax and spend liberal. One has to be blunt for a bright guy POTUS is an economic idiot, in his Liberal Hollywood world, you raise taxes on the rich and then everything is okay, problem, if you tax the rich at 100% why should they bother to create jobs, the PUBLIC SECTOR does not create jobs, it does not lead to a booming economy, it has the reverse effect, think the Cuba and the Soviet Union, if people cant make money they will no nothing, you have decline and fall, does Obama want a post imperial American, where the powers are China, India, at least JFK had RFK and Reagan had Nancy, people who told the President the unvarnished truth, TRUTH that can HURT, Obama can be beaten folks, in 1997 UK election Sir John Major had on the whole nice encounters with the voters, the reason they voters had decided to vote for Tony Blair, Obama should not mistake big crowds for the idea he is going to win, it could mean the reverse, but it’s a long road to 2012 folks.

Yemen Civil War

BBC News: Reports on the latest fighting in Yemen, between the Government forces of President Saleh and Hashid tribe, it is reported that President Saleh has been hurt in an attack. Yemen does not have any oil, but its strategic importance comes from its location, at the entrance of the Persian Gulf, also in the fighting mix is the Al Qaeda, this franchise is seen as the most serious threat to Western security. Thus the Obama Administration faces tribal infighting in Yemen but also the terrorist threat, POTUS can not afford for Yemen to become another Afghanistan. As noted recently Al Qaeda took over a Southern town in Yemen, thus its in Western interests for there to be stability in the rather limited Government, it would not surprise this blog if there were US Special Forces in Yemen looking to get some stability in the area and keep Al Qaeda in check.

Level Pegging = Conservatives and Labour

Daily Mail: Reports on a ComRes Poll that has both the Conservatives and the Labour Party on 37%. Thus folks “ Red ” Ed Miliband shows why he will not be the next Prime Minister, he does not have the charisma of Tony Blair or the political cunning of Harold Wilson. If my memory is right Tony Blair in the same period was miles ahead of Sir John Major and the Conservative Government, one would think with the massive cuts to the public sector that Labour should be at least 5-10 points ahead of the Conservative Party, but as the recent vote in Scotland and in Southern England has shown Labour has a long way to go before it returns to Government. “ Red ” Ed needs Scotland to stay in the UK, otherwise Labour would lose any chance of forming the next Government, thus my prediction that Ed Miliband will be shown the door by Labour before the 2015 election, the Labour Party cant afford to have another Gordon Brown at the helm, it has to be ruthless like the Tory Party, it dispatched Lady Thatcher as to win in 1992, the Labour Party failed to get rid of Brown, will it make the same mistake with Miliband Junior.

Greece Default, When ?

Guardian: Reports that Moody’s the Credit Agency has downgraded the credit worthiness of Greece to almost nothing, and has stated that there is 50% that Greece will default. If Greece was a horse it would be glue time folks, lets get this straight Greece is a goner, it is bankrupt, its currency in may respects is being kept up by the EU/IMF, that’s the problem, the Euro is killing Greece, and the political elite don’t have the guts to admit they got it WRONG. The Tax payers of Germany are funding Greece, the Greeks have to get out of the Euro, default on their debts, take the real pain and start from scratch. Otherwise in medical terms Greece is HIV and its not being careful with its partners, its going to give HIV to everyone else, of course the end result of HIV is AIDS, and then death. If the EU does not want that fate, and wants to protect the Euro it has to cut Greece off from the money, let it fail. Otherwise the bailouts are just toilet paper, will less use for the taxpayer.

In Praise of a Tennant and Tate

BBC News: Report on the high praise for a new version of William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, Starring David Tennant and Catherine Tate. This is why on the one hand you really wanted David Tennant to stay as the 10th Doctor, but also on the other hand why you wanted him to do other things, he is a fantastic actor, from Casanova, Hamlet, Hector in 39, to Single Father, ( not the kind of thing this blog would normally watch but that’s the charm of Tennant, he brings you in to a drama you would not normally watch and makes you watch it, by the way is there a second series of Single Father with the TARDIS ( in joke ). Also his moving part in the story of the Munich crash. Have to admit when Ms Tate joined Doctor Who was not convinced, but was crying by the end with her departure, she is that good, but also great at comedy. Even this blog is not cynical all the time.
