Our Boris is doing well even with the COVID - 19 virus and endless Brexit talks going on and on.  The Labour Party has elected a solid leader IN Sir Keir Starmer, but he has to take on the left for the voters to trust him.  One way to show that he is NOW the leader would be to throw out the former Leader Jeremy Corbyn, he lead the Labour Party to its worse election result since 1935.   The UK voter wants Brexit DONE and for the Country to get over COVID - 19.   Thus so far so good for Boris, keep it up PM.

Lets Get Real:

The pharmaceutical firms in the UK should be doing the above without the UK Government having to tell them.  It is there commercial interest to have the products need by the NHS.  Also the patients of the NHS will need their medical support through out Brexit.  The UK Government has to be firm with these companies, it can not leave it for the last minute, what if the EU causes because they have not gotten the deal they wanted, if the place blocks on drugs coming to the UK form the EU.   The French fisherman are acting up on being blocked from UK waters after Brexit, the EU can not be trusted, so UK companies get ready, have supplies on hand, things could get nasty after December 31st.

Lets Get Real:

The JOY or not of endless Brexit talks, this is the EU taking it down to the line, the French have been very clear they want to carry on having fishing rights in UK waters after Brexit and they have stated they will block any deal that does not have that.  Of course the paymasters of the EU, Germany might have to place pressure on them to accept a deal, they might get some money back from the Euro bailout for EU countries after COVID - 19.  The UK has been CLEAR, UK fish for UK fishermen, so the UK can not move on that also the EU should not be able to block UK government support for business after Brexit and COVID - 19.  It will be interesting to see who blinks first, let's hope the UK PM finds his inner Churchill or Thatcher.

This blog is confirming its call for a 2nd national lockdowm, whatever the financial cost, its better to close down everything for three months and come out with a vaccine, than the present course of closing down large areas of the UK, it is a confused message, and people being people who have got some of their freedom back will not want to go back in to lockdown.   If the whole Country closed  then everyone would be in the same boat.  Also the economy could be placed in suspension, and the effects of Brexit would not be that great when you have to deal with the results of COVID - 19. CLOSE NOW AND GET REAL.

Lord Botham Brexit has a ring to it, of course Lord Botham is a firm Brexit supporter and does great charity work.  The blog does not understand why the PM has placed Ken Clarke and Philip Hammond on the peerage list, they are firm Remain supporters, is No 10 trying to show that the BREXIT WAR is over and the Country must move on, the question is will the former Chancellors follow the Conservative whip or will they just be as stubborn in the Lords as they were in the House of Commons about Brexit.  At least the Conservatives have more on their side, the House of Lords had become Remain CENTRAL for those opposed to Brexit.   At least the former Speaker, John Bercow was not given an peerage, he broke the norms of the House of Commons in his attempts to block BREXIT, he used very OLD precedents in attempt to BLOCK BREXIT, he lowered the standing of the Speaker for his personal agenda. 

COVID - 19, 2nd Wave ? - COVID - 19, Update 1 - Health/Economy

Lets Get Real:

Let's recall that it was the 2nd wave of the Spanish Flu in 1918 that was more deadly than the first wave, so the UK Government is right to be concerned about another wave.  This blog has argued for a 2nd national lockdown for the whole of the UK, if lives are the main matter, then we have to take the economic hit, and it will be a massive economic hit, like nothing we have ever seen before, well no one alive.  The UK should lockdown for three months, in that period we should get a vaccine and then we can get the Country going, otherwise we could lose thousands more lives.  It will not be an easy decision by the PM.  The Country is coming out of the 1st wave, pubs indoors are just going to open in  Wales and what about the food voucher by the Chancellor, the economic hit could be BIG for a 2nd lockdown.

The game plan for POTUS is easy to understand, he has worked out that he is going to lose, and wants to undermine a Biden victory.  Trump knows that he can not change the election date, the Democrats in Congress will never go for it, thus he is going to use the Russian investigation that the Democrats used to cripple his Administration against them, he hopes to have a Republican Congress do pointless investigations and then run against Biden in 2024.   It has been predicted that the US economy will not return to normal in till 2024, thus allow Trump to build another base for another run.  The idea of a delay of the above will drive the Democrats nuts, as the article notes the Democrats on Hill have been highly critical of the idea, this what Trump does best, he should never have been President, he was not planning to win in 2016, he just wanted a spring board to start his own TV Station, winning was the last thing that Trump wanted.  Thus Trump knows NOW, that he will join the ranks of Hoover, Carter, and Bush 41 as Presidents who only served one term.
