Lets Get Real:

The PM should think about throwing in towel, as is stating that the talks are going nowhere and that the UK will do with a NO DEAL BREXIT or Australian rules. The UK would go on to World Trade rules, if it is good enough for the rest of the World is is good enough for the UK.  Then we will have a freehand to do DEALS with Commonwealth Countries and the rest of the World, we can offer VISAS to these Countries as they were part of the British Empire.  Once we are clear on that the EU will come running for a DEAL, then we can discuss when we want to.  It must come as a shock to the EU that a Country would leave the EU, and would refuse it move on its demands.  Thank goodness for the British voter, we will not be bullied, we voted in 2016 and 2019 to break it off with the EU, our time is coming soon. 

The Furlough Scheme ENDS in October - COVID - 19 Update 1 - Health/Economic

Lets Get Real:

The Treasury can not go on forever paying for the wages of the UK workforce, that is the job of employers, the Treasury has been very generous an will go on being generous in till October.   The PM has to get the workforce back to work, or the recession we will face will turn in to depression and fast and the voters will not be happy.  The Chancellor could do more to help pubs and hospitality firms, they will not be getting people to come in to their establishments in till the middle of June or the start of July. An American President once said, American business is business, well the same can be said of the UK, people might need to be pushed back to work, and less in fear of the virus, this blog has had some reservations about the furlough scheme for a while, it needs to get people off their backside and back to work.

The Welsh like the rest of the UK economy is going down the drain, the UK Government and the regional Governments have to get the economy moving, they managed that during the Spanish Flu of 1918.  There is a risk of more lives being lost, but if there is no push to the economy millions will be out of work, and how much stress will that cause for people and the NHS.  The Government will have to take the risk, its people vs the economy, as it was always going to be about if there was no COVID - 19 vaccine.  The UK economy can not be placed in suspension and there being no reaction, for every action there is a reaction.  Time for the UK to wake up!!

It is a pity that the LEFT WING Guardian is not as TOUGH on the EU as it is on Dominic Cummings.  The HARD REMAINERS at the Guardian and the EU want to lock the UK in a deal that would tie the hands of the UK when it comes to OUR FISH.  The EU must be TOLD, it's our way or the highway for the EU.  If they want to fish in our waters they must agree to our terms.  The BBC/Guardian Mob will turn to BREXIT once the Cummings story ends, one way or another.  At the end of the day it is about BREXIT, both the EU talks and the Cummings mess.  The PM should stand firm.  Do what Thatcher would do, stand your ground PM.

Those Conservative MPs that have added to the chorus demanding that Dominic Cummings be sacked need to be seen by the Chief Whip, the PM needs a tough whip who has files on ALL MPs, and should remind them that they were elected by the Boris Mandeate and if they want to get re-elected they should either shut up or find a mic and express their total support for the PM.   These MPs have to much time on their hands, they needed back in the House of Commons, were they can viewed and if needed a firm talk by the Chief Whip.  What local associations give can be taken away by Central Office if they do not have the Whip.

It seems the effects of COVID - 19 on the EU economy has finally gotten in to the brains of Ministers in Paris and Germany.  Let's see if the EU does relax its view, the UK as stated has to be firm with the EU, our WATERS and OUR FISH.  Take it or leave it.  If a free trade agreement can be made that is good, that benefits the UK and the EU, the UK should not take ANY DEAL, that is what the hard remainers want, PM Boris can not be diverted by the Dominic Cummings mess, or the rebels on the backbenches, all they are need to do is, hit their mark, eg turn up to the HOUSE OF COMMONS and vote for Conservative Bills.   There are hardly any Churchills or Thatchers in this group or even a Harold Wilson who resigned from the 1945 Labour Government over health policy.  KEEP FIRM BORIS.

As stated the LIBERAL MEDIA, and this blog includes SKY NEWS in that covers for Biden by having his record of support for African - Americans.   The Trump Campaign will use this throw away remark to try to hurt Biden, the question will it work, for the majority of African - Americans not, but on the margins it might, and if it's a close election that margin could be very important.   Biden is known to have a foot in mouth problem, what will he be like with the constant campaign, he can not campaign in his basement forever, he needs to get out to shake hands and to show people that he is not old and a moron to boot.   The 2020 campaign will be the dirties on record, this is no Reagan' up beat campaign in 1984.  It is trench warfare in 2020.

Those Conservatives calling for the head of Mr Cummings should recall that he got them BREXIT in 2016 and helped Boris Johnson win the 2019 General Election.  The MPs are back in town next week, the Chief Whip needs to get his WHIP out, get people back in to line, the Conservative backbenchers are always up in arms over something, that is why a good Chief Whip is needed.  Mr Cummings is great at strategy, that can cause problems for lesser people.  The PM should keep Mr Cummings no matter what others think, he needs him to sell his NO BREXIT OUTCOME if that is the result of the UK/EU talks.   SUPPORT MR CUMMINGS, he is what the Conservative Party needs.

This will be used by the Republicans to say that Democrats take the African - American vote for granted.  " Creepy " Joe Biden who is faces an alleged sexual assault charge has a habit of a foot in mouth problem, in the late 1980s he had to withdraw from the race when it was found that he had nicked a speech from then Labour Leader in the UK.  One can expect that the LIBERAL MEDIA will bury this story, CNN and other liberal platforms hate Trump so much they will cover for their candidate.  Let's recall the liberal New York Times cover for Stalin in the 1930s.  It is always the same, the media covered up for JFK while he had his numerous affairs.  It is always one rule for Democrats and another for everyone else, even more so if you are  a Republican or a Conservative.

One has to ask WHY NOW?, the official reason is that if the quarantine had placed at a early period then it would have not worked as the virus was in the community, after weeks of self isolation the R number is now down below 1.  Thus with the R number down it is an effective tool to counter COVID - 19.   The airline industry will not be happy and they might need a bailout from the Government, one doubts that there will be many people taking a holiday abroad at the moment, not if they have to self -isolate for two weeks after coming home.   The Government really must get the economy and the UK moving, the UK citizens are starting to get peeved with the Government and the restrictions.  If the US is opening and so is Europe the UK will should open soon, we need to be able to have a pint without being under the threat of arrest.

The question in the 2020 Presidential Election who will be the new FDR, a President that promises hope to American workers.  The Democrats are pushing trillions of more spending, while Trump is going on about his fav drug of choice this week.   POTUS knows that he needs to get the economy going, if he can do that then he might win re-election.   The Biden Camp needs to impress on the voters that Biden is calm, and will spend whatever it takes to get the US out of this mess.  The problem is at some point the bond dealers will say NO to the US, that they are spending silly money that they will never pay back or if so hundred of years later.   The US States are starting to re-open, CNN acts as if its favourite toy has been taken away by the people, it almost telling the people that they are stupid and only the elite at CNN knows what is good for them.  That is why the mainstream media is not trusted by the people and FOX News is the channel of choice, you have to respect your viewers, telling them they are stupid does not work.

The EU is still not getting the FACT that the UK LEFT the EU.  They are now critical of a letter sent by the UK side, in essence both sides have not moved, the UK will not move, it has the support of the UK voter, in 2016 and 2019.  The EU is run by Paris and Germany, these leaders have their own problems and are looking for a victory to keep the domestic voter happy.  One should ask these leaders if their fishermen/women will be happy if they are barred from UK waters because their leaders have not seen the direction of travel taken by the UK leadership.  It has been reported that the UK has given the EU two weeks to change course, sof far they have not, it is time to cut bait and go for a NO DEAL BREXIT.

It seems that Paris and Berlin will need to pressure the EU to move its line, in less France and Germany want an economic war with the UK, then the UK should cut taxes to rock bottom, cut business rates, make the UK the best place to do business.  One hopes that the EU Capitals read or watch UK news and understand that the UK will not be moved, we are firm, when it comes to our business sector and our fish, the EU has to learn that Nations will and CAN say NO to their rules.   If the EU does not change and reform it will soon find that it goes WAY the Dual Monarchy ( Austro - Hungarian Empire ) eaten from within by Nations that want to rule and be SOVEREIGN.

The UK has to be TOUGH with the EU, they are so used to the other sides giving way that they are in a bit of STATE OF SHOCK when a Country says NO to them.  The pressure on OUR FISHING stocks is coming from France and Germany, the PM should have a word with both Paris and Berlin and tell them to back off, with Covid - 19 do they also want a economic war with the UK, the Brits tend to wins wars with out European neighbours, they seem to forgotten that FACT.   The Royal Navy will protect UK fishing rights, and we have subs too.   Germany and France need to smell the coffee and fast.

The UK economy needs to get going after COVID 19 is either beaten or the UK has to live with the fact that COVID - 19 will be with us for years.   There is vaccine research in the UK and the US and the process so for has been good, but it might take months or years for a final solution.   After borrowing billions to keep people in WORK, the Government should pay it back over the decades, there is no need for austerity NOW, also it would cause further damage to the economy.  The UK has COVID - 19 to deal with but also we will be out of the EU finally by December 31st, given the present economic condition there won't be much difference.  The Government will have to open the public purse to finance work schemes for those out of work, it will be the 1980s - 9Os all over again, please make sure that any government jobs are REAL JOBS and that you are not thrown out of work after 6 months once the government reduces its support.   Hard times ahead.

The UK Government has to get the UK economy moving, it is reported that the COVID - 19 could increase Government borrowing by three hundred billion at least.   This will be paid off over the decades, this blog will be pushing up the flowers by the time its paid off.   The High Streets of the UK has to get going, small shops have to re-open, cafes and pubs have to open, the Country has to get back normal, Schools need to open, public transport has to get back to work.  The review in to COVID - 19 can come later, first things first, the people must be allowed out of their homes and back to work.

The 2nd reading of the bill was passed by nearly a hundred votes, this shows a majority Government can get its away through the House of Commons.  The Bill is good, it places EU Citizens on the same level as other World citizens.   This means that the freedom of movement is deleted from UK law, about time too.   The low wage economy created by the Blair/Brown Governments lead to the RED WALL of Labour MPs falling to the Conservative Party.  The voters were clear in 2016 and 2019, they want to reduce immigration, of course there are exceptions for those needed in the NHS and other areas.   The UK will be a sovereign State after December 31st 2020, we control our borders not the EU.

The EU in this case France and Germany have to get over the FACT that the UK has left the EU, our waters and fish our OURS, not up for discussion with the EU. Our fishermen have been arguing for years that the EU gets the best part of the DEAL.  This has to end, the EU will have to accept the FACT that British fishermen will decided how much fish they take from the Channel.    The EU countries will have to deal with London and how much they can fish or if they are allowed to fish.   The UK should be ready for a NO DEAL BREXIT, that is what the UK voter wants from the UK Government.   The HARD REMAINERS  within the BBC/Guardian/Sky and Times will push for an extension of the trade talks, the UK Government has to say NO.

The UK should send a CLEAR message to the UK, it's our way or there is NO DEAL.   This is not the May Government that dithered, it's the Boris Johnson Government with a 80 majority in the House of Commons.  The UK people voted out in 2016 and 2019, the UK will not move, it will have to be the EU.   The EU is in recession, so is the UK, if it does not want a further recession it will agree to a deal.   The EU is allowing ideology, e.g Germany and France to make demands that the UK will not meet and will never meet.  The UK has made its mind up, time for the EU to get the message.   The UK should increase talks with the US and Japan and the Commonwealth over a deep trade deal.

The HARD REMAINERS within the EU and the Guardian will never give up is trying to shackle the UK to the EU.  The UK Government has been very firm, its our way or the highway.  The Guardian/BBC EVEN The Times will use anything to stick the UK with the EU.  The latest suggestion that is that due to COVID - 19 the UK should ask for an extension of two years for the transition talks, this is a hoax, they EU will give way once it sees or smells the coffee that Boris is no PM May, has set a deadline and will not extend it, time for the HARD REMAINERS and the EU to grow up.

Let's face it, the UK faces a MAJOR ECONOMIC hit from COVID - 19, the death rate is now over thirty thousand, it could really be over forty thousand by now, the UK Government is taking a RISK, it has to get the workforce back to work, it can not afford to pay for the wages of workers through OUT the UK.   The Governments in Wales and Scotland do not have to worry about that, it will be the English taxpayer o teh whole that will have to bail out the Government, this will be done by tax hikes and austerity.   The ONLY silver lining with COVID - 19 is that most of the World is in lockdown, thus the Brexit talks can fail, how much worse can it get really.  Politics sometimes gives you a bad hand, the Government has gotten the worse, let's hope they know what they are doing.

The Chancellor has to be careful, bosses and the workforce should not get settled with the idea that the Government pays the wages of workers, while the bosses get away with just paying 20% if they want too.   The Government in August and September should start to phase out the furlough scheme, the Government cannot afford it long term.   The UK will have to live with having COVID - 19 in our mists for a long time, in less a vaccine can be found in the very near future.  If business leaders and trade unions are happy with the news, then there must be something wrong, the UK can not turn in to the USSR or North Korea.  There will be a COLD DAY when economic reality has to bite, and bite hard, than means getting the UK workforce off their backsides and back to work, that means public transport going at 100%.  That day is coming, and the British public better get around to accepting that reality.

IF nothing else the COVID - 19 crisis has saved the livers of millions of British citizens, they will not have had a drink in months, of course that all depends on them not getting beer from the super market.  Before the lockdown this blog made sure it had enough Buds to last for the duration, that is two bottles ever Saturday in till the we are allowed to go out again and enjoy life.  The preventing of  a British Citizen from going to the pub is a disaster for the community, it allows people to blow off steam, complain about the Government etc.    Also let's look at the economy, a lot of pubs will be forced to close, they will not have the resources of the big chains.  There should be peaceful demos in London, WE WANT OUR PUBS BACK!!.

The PM will be under pressure in about three weeks to open up the economy or face there being no economy to go back too and millions of people out of work.   The UK Treasury can not afford to pay 80% of the wages of workers all around the UK.  Even if Scotland and Wales refuse to budge the PM to overrule them and revoke their powers in this area.  The UK economy has to get going otherwise the Great Depression of the 1930s will look like happy hour for the UK.   The British workers can not just sit on his backside and be depressed, that does not help anyone.  It is matter of thinking what Churchill would do, he would take the fight to the disease, get the people BACK TO WORK.  There is not endless time.

The PM has a problem, his backbenches see the images of the Great Depression coming back, and they want to see the economy going, while the hack politicians in Scotland and Wales want the English tax payer to carry on paying for their employees to get wages and sit on their backsides and worry.   The PM has been very cautious, the up - lifting of the lockdown was conditional on the Rate, that being the number of infections that can happen in the community.  The Labour Party under its new effective leader see a weakness, thus expect them to be become more political.  One has to say the PM did not look great, the eyes gave the impression that he has not fully recovered from his close shave with COVID - 19.   One the whole a  good speech, the big decisions will happen in three weeks time, there is the argument ( by some ) that the Government should have taken no action, and let the virus burn itself out, as was the case with the Spanish flu in 1918.   The cost in deaths made that path a no go area, tough time to be a British PM.

It will be interesting to see over this hot weekend how many people follow the rules, it's been weeks NOW, since the UK population was told stay in, they need to see light at the end of the tunnel.  One can understand why the PM is being very cautious, he was at death's door and does not want to place anyone else in that  circumstance, on the other hand the economy faces the worse recession since the 18th Century and also we have the BREXIT talks going nowhere, sooner or later the PM has to make people get back to work or there will be no jobs to return too.  It was reported in one of the papers that Pubs will not open in till August, the Country at that rate will become just TEA DRINKERS!!  The PM might have to move faster than he wants to save the UK economy.

The EU faces something it has not faced before, the UK voted to leave the EU in 2016, and the talks after that stalled because the EU thought they could bully the UK back in the EU.  They still have the same mind set, they must get the FACT that the UK VOTED to leave in 2016 and the 2019 General Election.  PM Boris is BACK NOW, he will not ask for an extension and will not grant one if asked by the EU.  The powers of France and Germany have to get that through their heads or it is pointless in having the talks.  The UK alone is not new, we fight on, we never give up.   The 80 Seat majority by the Conservatives show that the UK voter wants out of the EU, it is a clear message, one has doubts that BBC/Guardian types have gotten that message.

So far the Government has kept to the message of staying home, that will change next week according to Government leaks.   There is an interesting problem faced by the Government, it needs to get the economy moving or we face a GREAT DEPRESSION or worse,  Then Bank of England has stated that it expects the economy to decline by 14%, the sharpest fall since the 18th Century.  But then bound back, the question is who will be out of work, what business will fail, will the big companies slash their workforce to make the business spreadsheet look good.  At the least the Government has a 80 seat majority and has five years to make a recovery.   There is noise from Scotland and Wales that they want to go slower with unlocking the economy, the PM should be firm with them, if they go their own way they pay the cost of keeping business going, from the grant that they get every year.  This is time to be FIRM with the political hacks in Wales and Scotland.

A recent approval poll had President Trump on 43% approval, in all his numbers have not gone down, ONE HAS TO ASK WHY.   The US is heading in to another Great Depression Part 2.  The Biden Campaign should be miles ahead of Trump, it leads in the battleground States but only by a few points.  The former VP must select the right VP choice, it has to be a woman, a fun persona, and ethnic.  If Biden selects the right candidate he has the White House in his hands, pick a wrong one and it could be a disaster.   Let's recall President Hoover was a one termer because it was seen that he had not done enough during the Great Depression, FDR bought with him hope, the US needs HOPE not WOKE.  If Biden losses this election, then it would be a disaster for the US, him winning might not be a great thing, at least he is not Trump.

If the Republic of Ireland is so worried it should tell the the EU to get its finger out and stop trying to STEAL UK fish for their States.  The UK has made a choice, twice, COVID -  19 will not change that status, a no deal Brexit would hurt the Republic, so Dublin better start thinking, does it want to deal with COVID - 19 and a no deal Brexit, that and COVID - 19 could kill off the IRISH ECONOMY.   Thus Dublin better think who it wants to annoy less and how much hurt it can take, does it really want to start to build a border posts on the Irish border with the North, does it really want the stress of creating a new framework, it would be better if Dublin had a spine and placed pressure on Berlin and Paris.   If Germany and France want OUR fish, they have to agree to our deals.

That could cause a problem for Biden, he is caught in a box, he has denied the allegation, in  a very firm manner, unlike Bill Clinton, he spoke and acted truthful.  If the Senate won't release such information and the University in which Biden placed in private papers won't release them either, how do you prove a negative.  The Republicans with no shame, will drag this out through the general election,  at present Trump has kept out of the affair, just stating the he has been accused in the past.  How long will that ceasefire last, POTUS if he can will drag the issue through the general election, if it is a choice of winning or losing, then Trump will go all the way to WIN.

The HARD REMAINERS will use anything to try to prevent BREXIT being finished, now they are using COVID - 19.   The Remainers have NO SHAME, Democracy to them is something only of use if it agrees with the outcome.  PM Boris should not give an inch, he should push ahead with BREXIT, that is something that he controls, and not the Guardian/BBC/Channel 4 news types.  There are always problems with something like BREXIT, it should not be used to block the Democratic mandate of the the British Government.  FULL STEAM ahead BORIS.

Everyone that recalls Bill Clinton's denial of an affair in 1998, knows that they knew he was guilty as sin.  In the case this blog believes VP Biden, there was no red nose as with Bill Clinton, the former VP was clear and gave a good impression of himself.  In less something else comes up, actually proof that there was a report made then the allegation can be dismissed.  This blog tries to be fair between Republicans and Democrats, in this year this blog does not have a dog in this race.

What is it with Democrats Presidents or Candidates, they either  have affairs which were not reported at the time, FDR, JFK, Bill Clinton ( exposed in 1998 ) or are accused of sexual assault, Bill Clinton again and now Joe Biden.  The liberal elite left hold Republicans or Republican officials to double standards, they are seen as guilty while Democrats are given a pass as they support liberal causes, such as abortion.   The Trump Campaign or its supporters will use the allegation against Biden, never made that women have made sexual assault allegations against President Trump.  It will be interesting to see if the extreme liberal press follow this story, one assumes they will try to bury the story, Biden is their only hope in 2020.
