Why are we playing about with the EU, they used Article 16 first, that being to negate aspects of the Northern Ireland Protocol, well its fair that the UK due to the problems in the Northern Ireland to invoke that clause to allow it negate those problems.   The UK should be firm with the EU, if you want a TRADE WAR we will give you one.  The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Norther Ireland is one UNITED KINGDOM, does not matter of the province is part of Ireland in the round.  The majority of the province wants to remain part of the UK, thus that should be the outcome, that is what DEMOCACY IS all about.

I do not think you can postulate about the future due to one by-election, yes it can be argued that the PM has not given the South the attention it needs and wants, and the obsession WITH the RED WALL has gone to the head of Conservative HQ.  The PM will have to sooth the worried browse of Conservative MPs and make sure that local conservative associations are really linked to their locality and can warn HQ if things look bleak.  No one was expecting the Liberal Democrats to win, but they they threw the kitchen sink at the Seat, that will not be the case in 2024.   A week is long time in politics, four years is forever.

Lets Get Real:

If I was a Conservative in the home counties I would worry but no time to get in to the lifeboat, the Liberal Democrats have had big by - elections wins in the past only to lose them in the General Election.  The Conservative Party should start to look at its Southern strategy, while Labour lost its deposit, that is a major worry, Sir Keir must be hopping in a Labour Seat by -election that the Labour candidate wins.   The Liberal Democrats threw the sink and house at the Seat, the Liberal Democrats Leader was in the Seat on 15 different occasions, he can not do that in the General Election.  Thus the result should be noted, but not over hyped, four years to go before the next election, and that is forever in UK politics. 

How OUT OF IT is POTUS when it comes to the New Cold War 11 ? - Biden Era

How out of is POTUS, the US and Russia are in a new cold war 2, only POTUS would think that the actions of the Russians since Crimea do not count as a new COLD WAR, this shows why former Secretary of Defence, Robert Gates was right, Biden had not been right about national security in decades.  If this the level of how out of it Biden is the security of the West is in deep trouble.  One does not need to be a magician to know that Putin will try to further gain further land in East Ukraine, he will double his efforts at cyber warfare, and he might threaten the Baltic States.  Biden has shown that he is a empty suit that has learned NOTHING, the Gipper was right to be critical of him in his diaries.

Thus four hours for a meeting that just allows the Ambassadors of both countries to return to their posts.  It seems that the point of the meeting was to get the US/Russian back on its adversary role BUT WITHIN LIMITS.  It seems that President Biden wanted to face Putin and make clear that recent RUSSIAN actions are not acceptable and to make sure that Putin understands that the US had security concerns and will protect them.  Was this worth a Summit, not really, Biden is following the Trump path of diplomacy, and that did not work with North Korea, also he has having a go at the reporters.  The White House staff must be thanking God that Biden got through the meeting, even if the reporters were not impressed.

As expected the farming body's are worried that Oz farming products will be sold here, at  cheaper prices and in volume, thus cutting the earnings of British farmers.  This is SIMPLE, change always comes, before the EU, the UK and Australia had a strong trading link, let's be honest we send out convicts out there, and later people have emigrated to Oz, because of the weather and the beaches.  Neighbours has a lot to answer for!! The UK has left the EU because it allows us to control OUR destiny, thus we should be opening talks with all the Commonwealth Countries and those in the Americas.  It is about the UK looking forward NOT BACK.   So lets have MORE deals and as quick as possible. 

President Biden on President Putin - The forthcoming Summit - Biden Era

Guardian - Live Blog: Reports in its 8.45pm post the following,  comments made by President Biden on his forthcoming meeting with Putin of Russia, " The US president emphasized that he wanted to see whether there are areas where he and Putin can work together to promote the interests of their countries and the world at large...But Biden declined to provide many specific details, saying he did not want to negotiate in public with reporters.  "

Lets Get Real:

IF this blog was on the White House it would be worried that Putin would eat Biden for breakfast, if you believe the intelligence, then Putin is a ruthless killer, who will do what it takes to remain in power.  Let's recall that Putin has been in power since 2000, either as President or Prime Minister.  Bush 43 stated that he had seen the soul of Putin, one critic stated that the Putin soul had KGB stamped on it.   The POTUS should expect a tough and frosty meeting, neither side has much to give and Putin has read Biden, he is a empty suit who will not do anything if there is a REAL CRISIS, aka Cuban Missile Crisis or the Russian fear in 1983 that the US was about to do a first strike on the USSR.   Thus the West should expect more game playing by Putin, what next, an invasion of the rest of the Ukraine, a threat to the Baltic States, all these could happen, Putin is that ruthless and with no morals.
