Lets Get Real:

IF nothing else the COVID - 19 crisis has saved the livers of millions of British citizens, they will not have had a drink in months, of course that all depends on them not getting beer from the super market.  Before the lockdown this blog made sure it had enough Buds to last for the duration, that is two bottles ever Saturday in till the we are allowed to go out again and enjoy life.  The preventing of  a British Citizen from going to the pub is a disaster for the community, it allows people to blow off steam, complain about the Government etc.    Also let's look at the economy, a lot of pubs will be forced to close, they will not have the resources of the big chains.  There should be peaceful demos in London, WE WANT OUR PUBS BACK!!.

COVID - 19 - Update 2 - Health

Sky News: Reports " Some restrictions lifted, but rule-breakers could now face bigger fines...The PM says people are encouraged to "take more and even unlimited amounts" of exercise, provided they maintain social distancing.  "

Lets Get Real:

The PM will be under pressure in about three weeks to open up the economy or face there being no economy to go back too and millions of people out of work.   The UK Treasury can not afford to pay 80% of the wages of workers all around the UK.  Even if Scotland and Wales refuse to budge the PM to overrule them and revoke their powers in this area.  The UK economy has to get going otherwise the Great Depression of the 1930s will look like happy hour for the UK.   The British workers can not just sit on his backside and be depressed, that does not help anyone.  It is matter of thinking what Churchill would do, he would take the fight to the disease, get the people BACK TO WORK.  There is not endless time. 

PM Boris is trying the impossible, keeping the UK healthy and getting the Economy moving - Covid - 19 Update - Health

Lets Get Real:

The PM has a problem, his backbenches see the images of the Great Depression coming back, and they want to see the economy going, while the hack politicians in Scotland and Wales want the English tax payer to carry on paying for their employees to get wages and sit on their backsides and worry.   The PM has been very cautious, the up - lifting of the lockdown was conditional on the Rate, that being the number of infections that can happen in the community.  The Labour Party under its new effective leader see a weakness, thus expect them to be become more political.  One has to say the PM did not look great, the eyes gave the impression that he has not fully recovered from his close shave with COVID - 19.   One the whole a  good speech, the big decisions will happen in three weeks time, there is the argument ( by some ) that the Government should have taken no action, and let the virus burn itself out, as was the case with the Spanish flu in 1918.   The cost in deaths made that path a no go area, tough time to be a British PM.

Lets Get Real:

It will be interesting to see over this hot weekend how many people follow the rules, it's been weeks NOW, since the UK population was told stay in, they need to see light at the end of the tunnel.  One can understand why the PM is being very cautious, he was at death's door and does not want to place anyone else in that  circumstance, on the other hand the economy faces the worse recession since the 18th Century and also we have the BREXIT talks going nowhere, sooner or later the PM has to make people get back to work or there will be no jobs to return too.  It was reported in one of the papers that Pubs will not open in till August, the Country at that rate will become just TEA DRINKERS!!  The PM might have to move faster than he wants to save the UK economy.

Brexit Update 1 - Transitional Period

Lets Get Real:

The EU faces something it has not faced before, the UK voted to leave the EU in 2016, and the talks after that stalled because the EU thought they could bully the UK back in the EU.  They still have the same mind set, they must get the FACT that the UK VOTED to leave in 2016 and the 2019 General Election.  PM Boris is BACK NOW, he will not ask for an extension and will not grant one if asked by the EU.  The powers of France and Germany have to get that through their heads or it is pointless in having the talks.  The UK alone is not new, we fight on, we never give up.   The 80 Seat majority by the Conservatives show that the UK voter wants out of the EU, it is a clear message, one has doubts that BBC/Guardian types have gotten that message.

Lets Get Real:

So far the Government has kept to the message of staying home, that will change next week according to Government leaks.   There is an interesting problem faced by the Government, it needs to get the economy moving or we face a GREAT DEPRESSION or worse,  Then Bank of England has stated that it expects the economy to decline by 14%, the sharpest fall since the 18th Century.  But then bound back, the question is who will be out of work, what business will fail, will the big companies slash their workforce to make the business spreadsheet look good.  At the least the Government has a 80 seat majority and has five years to make a recovery.   There is noise from Scotland and Wales that they want to go slower with unlocking the economy, the PM should be firm with them, if they go their own way they pay the cost of keeping business going, from the grant that they get every year.  This is time to be FIRM with the political hacks in Wales and Scotland.

Lets Get Real:

A recent approval poll had President Trump on 43% approval, in all his numbers have not gone down, ONE HAS TO ASK WHY.   The US is heading in to another Great Depression Part 2.  The Biden Campaign should be miles ahead of Trump, it leads in the battleground States but only by a few points.  The former VP must select the right VP choice, it has to be a woman, a fun persona, and ethnic.  If Biden selects the right candidate he has the White House in his hands, pick a wrong one and it could be a disaster.   Let's recall President Hoover was a one termer because it was seen that he had not done enough during the Great Depression, FDR bought with him hope, the US needs HOPE not WOKE.  If Biden losses this election, then it would be a disaster for the US, him winning might not be a great thing, at least he is not Trump.
