The House of Commons and the Brexit Deal - Brexit Update 3 - Post Brexit

Lets Get Real:

The pressure on the Conservative Chief Whip just increased, it is his job to count the votes, he needs to be honest with the PM and the Cabinet.  IF the votes are not there, then the PM has to go to Plan B, the question is what is plan b.   The PM should be ready to go for a no deal Brexit, this would get the hard Brexit supports back in line, she would have to dare the hard remainers to bring the Conservative Government down.   It will be interesting to see the House of Commons tomorrow, how many MPs support the PM from within the Conservative Party and will any Labour MPs support the Brexit deal.  Brexit is like a Vampire, it never goes away!

Is the UK PM on weak ground ? - Brexit Update 2 - Post Brexit

Lets Get Real:

Those in the Cabinet who opposed the UK - EU Deal will be taking soundings from their fellow MPs and Brexit supporters, do they stay and see the deal defeated in the House of Commons or do they jump ship. It can be argued that if the deal is going down it is better to be out of the mess, then come back and say they have the history but also understand what the Conservative Party and Country wants. Politics is a RUTHLESS business, one minute you are out of the office and the next you are out of office. It will be interesting to read what the right wing and left wing papers say about the deal.

UK Cabinet supports UK - EU Deal - Brexit Update - Post Brexit

Lets Get Real:

Thus the UK Cabinet has support the PM, it has been reported that 10 Ministers opposed the deal, it will be interesting in the hours and days ahead to see if ANY of the Cabinet resign.   The last time PM May got an agreement about Europe it lead to the resignation of her Brexit Secretary and Foreign Secretary within a few days.  The next hurdle in the House of Commons, if the hard Brexit supporters, and the hard remainers with the Opposition oppose the deal it will fail.   Thus the PM has to SELL the deal, that goes for the Cabinet too.   The Hard remainers will face pressure to support the deal if the EU supports the deal, tricky time for them.   Also it can be assumed that some LABOUR MPs will also support the government as they want OUT of the EU.   Is the PM up to the task, so far so good for her.

The DUP and the UK - EU Deal - Brexit Update 4 - Post Brexit

Lets Get Real:

The next few hours and days could be crucial for the PM, if the numbers in the House of Commons does not look good then PM May might find that she is forced out of office.   The PM has to sell the deal to the Cabinet, the House of Commons and the Country, the deal has to look like we are leaving the EU not become its colony, this decision could break the Conservative Party.   The Cabinet should have a hard look over the issue over night, do they support the PM or break her, that is the choice.   This is the biggest political decision since World War 2, it has to be gotten right.

The Reaction to the UK - EU Deal Part 2 - Brexit Update 3 - Post Brexit

Lets Get Real:

It will be interesting to see what the reaction is from the right wing press, such as the Daily Mail and the The Sun to the Brexit deal, if they support it then some Brexit MPs will follow their lead, on the other hand if they say NO, it could be time for the moving men to start taking Mrs May stuff out of No 10.   One hopes that the PM is better at one to one talks than she is at giving speeches, needs to be very good to get the Cabinet support her and for there to be no resignations or a limited amount.  Interesting few hours ahead for the PM and the Country.

The Reaction to the UK - EU Deal - Brexit Update 2 - Post Brexit

Lets Get Real:

As noted in previous post the reaction to the agreed deal is not good, can the PM keep her Cabinet together, will the hard brexit supporters in the Cabinet support the deal, and will they sell it to Conservative MPs. The PM will face problems should many Cabinet Ministers resign. It will be interesting to see how Labour MPs react to the deal, will they support the Government when it comes to a vote or will they obey the Party line to oppose the deal. One can expect the papers tomorrow to be full of review and predictions. The Conservative Chief will have COUNT the votes and place pressure on MPs, AT the moment the Whip does not have a great job.

UK - EU Deal Agreed - Brexit Update - Post Brexit

Lets Get Real:

Thus a finally an agreement has been agreed by the UK and the EU.   The reaction thus far has not been good, the hard brexit supporters say they will oppose, the same for Labour.   The details of the agreement have not come out, thus as stated this blog will not make a comment in till the full draft is OUT, it should leak overnight.    As stated this blog wants to see the UK out of the EU in March 2019, out of the customs union and the single market, the ECJ should no longer have power over UK Courts.  The Houses of Parliament should be sovereign again, the UK should not be tied to the EU for more than is needed.   Northern Ireland should not be seen as different than other parts of the UK.
