Mummy on the Orient Express - Doctor Who Review

Lets Get Real:

A real cracking Drama and Doctor Who to boot, the Mummy was the monster, thus the title, but it was for a reason, it was being spoiler.   The relationship just gets better between the Doctor and Clara, the affection but also Clara's anger at being miss lead by the Doctor, the good Doctor has trust issues is an understatement, if he was your Doctor on the NHS he might cure you or frighten you to death.   The 12th Doctor cares about humanity without being human, he is a Time Lord always asking questions.   It was moving at the end how the Doctor solved the problem, and showed his mercy for an old Soldier,  being forced to do his duty.   The set for the episode was fantastic, you really felt like you were on the 30s Orient Express, also the guest cast was excellent, and that 66 second clock was horrible, the Doctor showing his alien side, wanting information as some was being killed, was ruthless but need to be done, and the Doctor does what needs to be done, just like Captain James T. Kirk.  Another Episode to watch, also the end when Clara changed her mind about leaving her care patient, they fit each like a glove, they need each other, but bicker all the time, great fun, AND drama. 

Kobane Update Part 2 - The New War on Terror

Lets Get Real:

Turkey has military tanks on the border, only a few miles from Kobane, what in the hell are they waiting for, an invite from Assad.   The US has to place real political pressure on Turkey, the Oval has to get off the golf course and start to use the Oval to place pressure on the weak points of Turkey, it has been a long term aim for Turkey to join the EU, well make it clear to Turkey that Russia has more chance of getting into EU, if they do not move to help Kobane, its a tough World, time to drop being diplomatic and use raw political power.   Then we come to the military strategy, its not working, time for Obama to place more " military advisors " in Iraq, and for the RAF to increase its attacks on the IS.   The Allies can not afford to lose Baghdad to IS, this is a war the region and the West can not afford to lose.

Lets Get Real:

The Oval must get ground troops to Baghdad and fast, if IS arrives in the Capital the US will not have time to get ALL its people OUT, think of the images of South Vietnam just before the fall in 1975, and think of that happening in this 24/7 news cycle.   The Obama Presidency would be OVER, the Democrats would have no trust on national security, the Clintons will dump on high on Obama, if it is a choice between the Clintons getting back in to the White House and making the last two years of the Obama Presidency HELL, they will do it, the Clintons are playing for keeps this time, so what will the Oval do.   The Oval at present is playing a stalling game, it wants to hand the mess over to his successor, the problem is that IS is playing to WIN now.    Thus its up to the OVAL to decide its legacy, tough or weak, does Obama want to be Carter Mark2.  Even Jimmy Carter has been critical of President Obama, if your getting a critical review from that side you better look again at your choices and make changes. 

Obama on 39% Approval - Gallup

Gallup: Reports on President Obama's daily job approval rating, today POTUS is on  39% while 57% Disapprove of the job Obama is doing as POTUS. 

Lets Get Real:

Thus President Obama is a great weight on Democrats running in the 2014 Mid Terms, on the following the Oval is doing badly in Iraq and Syria, as in no real plan, those that killed the US Ambassador AND other US Citizens in Libya are still on the lose, there is a threat of terror attacks from Al Qaeda and IS, the scandal of the IRS going after Conservatives is still on going, ObamaCare is still throwing people off their health plans and various political and social issues are heading for the US Supreme Court.    IT will be interesting to see HOW POTUS handles these different issues, its not when you're riding high that counts but when you are at the bottom, and 39% is low for POTUS. 

Kobane Update - The New War on Terror

Lets Get Real:

One has to tip one's hat off to the Kurds, they are tough and fighting for each piece of Kobane, the bigger problem now faced by the US and its allies is the fact that Anbar province could fall within days, the US and its allies have to consider to ground troops otherwise they could just  be holding Baghdad and Ibril for the Kurds.   The US keep saying that they have a strategic plan, but if you lose most of Iraq and Syria to IS they have their State in all but name.   The US Congress after the Mid Terms should declare War on IS, the US and its allies should go in full force to remove IS and then keep a limited presence in Iraq and let Iraq have the breathing space to grow a democracy, otherwise its all over.   The Obama legacy will be the lost Iraq and Syria to IS.

Thus the fate of Kobane has become the symbol for the future of the Obama Presidency, the Oval needs to understand that IT can be WRONG, the idea that President Obama's is the most clever man in the room only exists in the head of the Oval and his supporters who faint in his presence, that last time this blog looked Obama had ZERO history in serving in uniform, and he is allowing himself and this 100% loyal staff to make national security decisions based on what helps the Democrats in November.   The area of national security is far to important than who takes the US Senate.    One can assume that POTUS is waiting for the Mid Terms to be over before placing troops in Syria and Iraq, that is the HOPE, otherwise its going to be a rough two and half years for the Oval and US national security.

Lets Get Real:

Thus the Oval and its Allies are on the same page as Assad, hardly a great surprise, this blog suggested at the start that President Obama bomb IS and Assad, then neither side would gain from the US strikes.    Turkey a NATO member has made it clear that it wants Western troops on the ground for any ground action, that blocks Turkey from doing anything to save Kobane.    The US has to increase its airstrikes on IS in Syria, there should be 24 hour bombing of IS targets in Syria and Iraq.   The Oval can not play small ball, it has to go big and take out IS, otherwise the Obama Presidency will be a failed Presidency.
