UK's Economic SLUMP after COVID - 19 - Update 1 - Economy/Health

Lets Get Real:

It can be argued that the UK economy will have U shaped recession, shallow in the middle but a return to pre 2020 standards by the end 2021.   There will be deep job loses in the hospitality sector, from Bars, to pubs to restaurants .   The neat idea of the Chancellor to give a voucher to punters has been a great idea, it has gotten people back out for a drink and to eat.   It can be argued that the voucher scheme should be extended from its present Monday to Wednesday to the full week and extended to cover September also.   The Brexit effects should be limited, with the COVID - 19 taking the blame for job loses.   The UK should have a CLEAR BREXIT from the EU, the EU will come running for us after we have gone. 

The Democratic Convention - US Election 2020

Lets Get Real:

This is a non news event, Biden will be selected as the Democratic Nominee and his VP will be supported by the Convention.  Except speeches to attack Trump and the Republicans.  The liberal mainstream media and CNN ( It is about time CNN gave up being a news network! ) It just kisses the backside of the Democrats, will give the convention a fawning reporting and support whatever the Democrats say on the night.  It will be interesting to hear Barack and Michelle Obama and one hopes that Biden is NO BORING and manages not to place his foot in his mouth, he is the next President, God help US ALL.  It will be interesting to hear what the Dems say about FOREIGN POLICY, are they really going to take on Putin and Russia, of course expect them to want another DEAL with Iran.   One does wonder will Russia try to thwart the event with another computer hack, we shall see!!

Lets Get Real:

The Biden campaign should use Ronald Reagan as an example, the happy warrior, Biden should not allow himself to get dragged in to fights with POTUS, he is NO BARACK OBAMA, the former VP has a foot in mouth problem.   The left elite are afraid of this and thus recent attempts to get Biden to say NO to the Presidential Debates, the left is afraid that Trump will eat him alive, they have a valid concern.   The Biden Campaign should stress positive aspects about the candidate and his campaign.   The Candidate should send a message of bringing people together and no more appeasing Moscow and remaking the agreement with Iran.   Biden has to be careful he does not lose this race before it has began.

This is a mistake for Biden to fight on Trump's ground, everyone knows Joe Biden is religious, thus Trump can come back and ask, if he is so religious why does he support abortion.   POTUS can argue that he Biden is two faced, the liberals get pro abortion but when facing his God, he claims to be religious.  Also Biden has to be careful with his words, the latest argument he has developed himself, was the view that the African - American community are united and have one voice, that means support for him, he has had to dial that back, as Trump has gone after him on this issue also.   In the next few days Biden has to chose his VP, it will be woman, and it should be a woman of colour.  Biden needs his how Bush 41 when he was Vice - President to Ronald Reagan, the ideal candidate would be Susan Rice, she fell on her sword for Obama over Libya, the Obama/Biden team owe her big time.

The US voter can expect POTUS to fight dirty, he is going for the classic D.C game of going after the strong points of the other candidate, Biden is known to be religious, by the end of the campaign Trump hopes to make him look like a far out leftist, who will place God on the ash heap and take away the guns of the US voters.  Let's recall that there will be 3 debates, and people start voting before the 1st debate.  One can expect hundreds of negative adverts from Trump, one only hopes that the Biden Campaign goes high, has a strong message, and will restore Presidential dignity to the Oval Office.  One can only hope!!

POTUS will break any rules to get a better poll numbers, let's recall that Jimmy Carter gave a convention speech in 1980 but then did the Rose Garden strategy when fighting Ronald Reagan for a 2nd term.  Those that decry Trump by saying its political are two faced, EVERYTHING in D.C is political, as when Carter did his campaign from the Rose Garden, giving the impression that affairs of state were to important to leave for a campaign, that did not work, Reagan won 44 States and become the 40th President.  Trump might think it would better to have a foreign policy crisis, do not be surprised if a conflict breaks out between the US and Iran, the bombing of Tehran might go down well the US voter.  There are many tricks that Trump can pull, its not over till the Fat Lady sings.   The Tehran Regime would be advised to keep quiet and not give Trump a REASON to bomb Iran.   They will get a better break from a future Biden Administration.

By the polls POTUS is a loser, his actions and interviews have been all over the place, he has not  helped himself and people are still under threat from COVID - 19.  On the other hand this blog's political gut is thinking it might be worth placing a £2.50 bet for Trump to win.  As I found in 2016 it was right, and I did win a £5 back.   Whatever the experts say and the polls we have to face the fact that a week is a long time in politics, also we have the debates to come, ,most people starting watching the news after Labour Day ( September 1st ) in the US.  Also Biden can not hide forever from Trump, the campaign experts are afraid that Biden will mess it up in the debates, that is a major concern.  Do not write off Trump yet, ( even if we all want too ) its a long road to the Oval Office.
